thanks. the electric start worked fine before the spill. i've had the bike a few days. its got less than 5 miles on it. i dont even have insurance yet. in im Long Beach. thanks for the welcome. ive been a bit intimidated about the bike because i don't know anything or anyone who does.
im wondering if there is anyone in the area who rides at all who might want to meet up and show me some things and whatnot.

long beach cali? thats cool. yeah the parts ( as far as i can see ) are a little more difficult to find then the standard gy6 scooter parts. i did find a foot brake lever on the motobravo site but there is no price on it, i dont even know if it would fit up with the one on your scoot. im thinking when the bike took a spill, it most likely knocked a wire or two loose. tell me, when you press the start button, does it do anything at all? any noises or clicks? you could have popped one of your fuses that go from your battery to the starter. i would check those first. those cylinder shaped glass fuses that come stock are very flimsy, i replaced the ones on mine the day i discovered how thin the filiment inside of the fuse was. another thing that could have gone wrong is maybe the kill switch took a hit and could have damaged it or maybe a wire pulled out from behind it. www.motobravo.us/parts_details_table.php?lb=130

the start button produces no noises, no turn, nothing. however when i turn the ignition the gauges move. i called the guys who sold me the bike and theyre sending one guy to get the bike. he did give me sort of weird advice though. he said i should take pictures, get insurance today, and then claim the accident tomorrow and have someone else fix it. i feel weird about that but i dont even really know what im looking at when i open it up. the manual would have been useful had it not been a literal translation from chinese.

i bet you that its one of the fuses that is coming off of the battery, if you can gain access to your battery, look at both the positive and negative wires coming from the battery, there should be two inline fuses, i would check both of them to see if they are broke or not.

insurance fraud is NOW the big thing to get caught at. companies are spending lots to prosecute .
now about being a complete nooob. dont worry about it. when i got my scoot i had only done a few oil changes and changed plugs, on the mini van. not much more. heck i even stripped the threads doing a oil change. im dumb.
the best way to get confidence is to do a PDI. theres links everywhere, plus theres a ton of youtube videos take all the plastics {tuperware} off and look. check electrical connections, air & fuel lines. EVERYTHING
not sure about ur budget, but the 2 shops close to me { yea close 40+ miles} one charges $50/hr & the other charges $80/hr. so doing preventive maint. is cost effective for me to do. i AM having some probs now, but thats waiting on parts.
so good luck, keep asking questions the only dumb question is the one not asked

im not having excellent feelings about scams regardless so i'm going to see what it would cost to just have the guys do it for me. i am currently looking for the parts. wont kick start either. hm id also like to find some people in long beach who tinker so i can learn a bit more. let me know if anyone in the area is up for the (big) challenge sad to say but i think the most ive ever delved into things would be checking the oil.... on a car. thanks to everyone for trying to help.

if you could take some pics of your hornet and the pieces you are talking about we could help you out tons more maybe you could get a bicycle peg to replace it, some people change over to those just for the look of it. just an idea,

ok well glad you got it running again! i dont know how it being flooded made it not want to even click when you hit the start button but as long as it runs thats a plus. hope the welding goes well and happy scooting.
