I have a new (3 days) yy250t.... jcl mp250a. I pulled the oil plug from the bottom and changed it before i ever run it. Changed the antifreeze... used Dexacool.. remember to squeeze the hoses to prime it. My gear oil is an issue. the manual says to fill it up. I have a big plastic plug on the top of the clutch, I have put quit a bit of oil into it and it is still not full. I just stopped till i find out something about it. ANYONE KNOW ABOUT FILLING THE GEAR OIL ON THIS... PLEASE....

OUCH!! I think your filling the CVT if you ask me. On yours you have to take the CVT cover off to fill it and drain it. Alleyoop

Here's the gear oil change from the Helix manual:
I guess drain it again and this time measure .16 QT. I'm going to do this very procedure this weekend and I'll let you know how it comes out. Rich

Sir: this may sound strange, but I have a big plastic oil fill plug just behind my shock, and right adjacent the wheel. It is just like my engine oil plug but no dip stick cast into it. Mounted just above it is a breather tube.. about 3/8" dia. about 4" long. it is routed right down beside the fill hole. I'll be takeing my cover off again tomorrow, and will try and discover the fill and drain bolts, you so kindly displayed to me above. You have a nice evening and thanks ever so much for this Sir:

Do you know how to e-mail pictures? Rather than post it using Photobucket just e-mail the pic to: rich_carman@hotmail.com and I'll post it on this thread. I think it would clear up some confusion that's been arising on the gear oil issue lately. Rich

Here's how I changed the gear oil on my CF Moto vertical engine Fashion. First, I had to remove the side panel to take the CVT cover off:
Take the two 10mm bolts out, tap the cover a few times with a rubber mallet, and the cover comes off. Note the transmission vent tube that fits into the back of the air cleaner:
Remove the plugs and drain the gear oil:
Pull the transmission vent tube out of the air cleaner:
Then blow air through it to push any residual oil out:
Replace the drain plug and push oil in until it runs out of the fill plug. I use 75W-90 synthetic:
When it stops replace the fill plug:
Replace the CVT cover and you're done. Rich

what you have is the yamaha majesty clone, like this Next to the fill cap u should have a gear box breather that extends around 4"-5" out over your tire its a black tube and will expel the gear oils if over filled but the measurement is as stated. I know dumb there is no dipstick or viewing port to see i just used measuring cup for 8.45 ounces which is about 1/4 a liter. you wont have to take cover off and just ignore the mount for the drum brake as shown in pick as you have disk brake most likely. But the bolt on that brake cable bracket is also the drain plug. GL- G
