Hey all, Last night I was doing some maintenance that I hadn't done before, as I was getting prepped for the season. My scooter was purchased from a friend, who bought it from a local dealer, who he said took care of all of the original maintenance... lo and behold when I went to change my gear oil... nothing came out!! 3 drops of dirty black oil. I thought maybe it was just clogged somehow, so I rocked the scooter... nothing. So I took some of the new gear oil and squirted it in, and to my amazement it flowed straight out. That's means there was NO GEAR OIL... I'm not sure how long that went for, though it had never had an oil leak. Filled it back up and its driving better than ever! (A/F adjustment, Carb Cleaning, Idle Adjusted, PDI, Motor and Gear oil change)
Has anyone else had any startling finds on their scooter?

We've had loose front axle nuts, loose steering heads, bare battery cables, mice in the gas tank, valves at zero gap, loose rear axle nuts, loose engine mounts........it pays to do a PDI. Rich

Some of the scarey stuff comes from over looking locktite on the owners part. I know that for a fact. I replaced my tires on a new scooter and did not locktite the 2 bolts that keep the bracket between swing arm and caliper on. a year later it just dropped off at the bottom of a steep hill. No harm done but caused me to have to order a new one because it ran off into the woods. or some where! john
