Hi guys, I've been an owner of a 150cc "motorcycle" scooter for a few months now. I've put 1100 miles on it so far. For the past month and a half I've noticed an overwhelming gasoline smell right after riding and I've noticed the gas gauge zip down to almost nothing in a matter of just a few miles. Something's definitely wrong here but I am not mechanically inclined. Typical scenario, I fill up, the gauge remains above "Full" for a good amount of time during riding. When the gauge finally begins to dip it dips fast. this scooter is supposed to get up to 80 mpg's or at least 70 but i am not getting that. I have noticed some grime deposits when observing the lower engine. Any ideas? It is a GY6. Also, where can I order a replacement left brake lever for this bike and get it relatively fast?

We've had this happen before on the forum and one thing that happens is the vacuum fuel valve leaks through the diaphragm and dumps it into the intake manifold:
You can try replacing it or bypassing it and see if that stops it. As far as vendors, I use these guys and they support the no Google ad fund:
Scooter Elements, Mainely Scooters, Buggy Parts Northwest, or KidNMe

Check your fuel hoses for drips with the engine running...Also a cracked fuel filter...
Brake lever... you need to replace the whole unit and reservoir and then bleed the brake lines...
Check the suppliers ads at the top of this page below the banner

I live in an apartment complex and don't have the garage to work on the bike, not to mention the tools. There is a place just a few blocks from me called Pacific Rides that services Chinese scooters. I've placed it in their hands although i know it's gonna cost me. I'd like to get the Hornet in good, non-leaking order in order to eventually sell it. I'm graduating to the DCT NC700x in about 3 weeks time.
