I bought a second hand SYM RV 150cc here in Taiwan. After 6 months I changed the Gaskets, Crank. The technician couldn't find a 150cc head, so he installed a 180cc head. Then I needed to change the Alternator and electrical regulator. And I have changed the Starter twice all ready.
Now, the scooter runs oly a month on the battery, then the electronic starter doesnt work. Fuses has been changed. If we connect a new battery, the bike elect starter starts the bike with no problem, but just for a few weeks.
Just before the starter stops to work, the lights will all go off, sometimes flicker, and only the brake light will function. My horn only works the first week with the new battery.
we have checked the wires....Please help...I enjoy the scooter, but this bike gives me alot of problems.

Put a multimeter set to DC on the battery while you're cranking a few RPMs. You should get 13 to 14.5v DC. If not you probably have a bad regulator/rectifier. Rich

I have installed a new Regulator / rectifier a month back. I will ask the guys to put on a Multimeter again and check the volts.
What type of battery should I have in?
The battery was charged for 6 hours. I drove 15min home. 10 Hours later, NOTHING...It even struggled to kick start....
What shoud I do??? Sellll???

No man, don't sell.....it's just a charging problem. As you're riding you're using the battery for everything....lights, ignition, horn, etc. In fact, that's probably a DC system and runs off of the battery. You're not getting any juice to it and when it's drained the bike does nada. I would suggest getting your own multimeter so we can work this out without going through a third party. They're about $15.00 and easy to use. I doubt it's your battery, just about anything in the ballpark should work. It's just not getting the love it needs. Rich

Hard to kick start adjust the valves...the battery has no effect on kick starting...the stator was replaced but could also not be the right match for the regulator...there are a number of different types.
A mismatch usually shows up as either...dim or no headlights at idle or no battery charging...this would be my guess...
SYMs are a little funky also...they may have just used GY6 parts, which causes trouble...
