I've searched but can't find a good answer...
Stabil or Seafoam...what's the difference?
Why, when, how much?

I know a small engine repair shop owner and he loves Sta-bil and Seafoam. He makes a fortune off of them! People use the products and mistakenly think they don't have to do anything afterwards. The truth is the gas still gunks up, albeit a bit slower, and trashes the carb and fuel system. Seafoam does clean components out some initially but is a lousy stabilizer. Drain your gas if it's old or you're putting the scooter up for a while, it'll save you a lot of trouble. Rich.

Stabil has never worked for me... Seafoam helps keep the valves clean, and may help keep the carb clean of gunk, but it must be cleaned first...manually...
Please don't believe all the claims for these products and use just a cap full of Seafoam to full tank...
...drain the fuel system when you put the scooter in storage...

My scooter dealer said to use Star-tron available at Tractor Supply Co. I have a 2008 Honda CRF 230L that I used Seafoam in last year to clean out the carb - it helped some but didn't get it running right. This year I used Star-tron in it and within 2000 miles it started running better than anytime since it was new. (over 30000 miles on it)

This is like asking what oil weight and type to use. Everyone will have their opinion and swear by it. They all do pretty much the same Sta-bil you will see most boaters use because it handles condensation and water better. Seafoam is more for cleaning the varnish out of the small passages and tiny fuel outlets and keeping them clear.
I use Seafoam, have a 5 gallon gas can and when empty I pour 5 ounces of seafoam then go fill it up. Been doing this now for over 4 years and never have cleaned or trouble with the carb. Alleyoop

i use seafoam when i needed to clean a carb that has seated for a long time., seafoam is very strong to make it in contact with non metal parts of the fuel system for a long time. i never use it as a maintenance.(regularly) i use MMO or marvel mystery oil as a maintenace stabilizer and fuel system cleaner, its oil base so it does help in lubrication as well.? and since we are talking about stabilizer, i have been using the lucas oil stabilizer on ol of my toys( except the bicycle, bleh!) and i am very happy with the result. engine runs significantly quieter and more powerful. the lucas particles clings to the side wall of the engine block even in long long storage, motor starts right up shyet!! because piston are lubricated, especially in the morning amd cold, and where engine blocks and pistons are tight.( or virgin, a rather better description) good luck!! open your minds with these oil and gas additives, they really work.
never never buy Stabil!!! only novice use them

See what I mean here is a guy using Marvel Mystery Oil and he also swears by it. It is all in the mind of the beholder. Take some folks that put on a Performance LOUD muffler the brain tells them the sucker is a rocket now, when in reality it is just making a lot of noise and making them deaf. Alleyoop

The big problem is people put that stuff in expecting it to make up for letting the damn scooter sit and sit not using it. If your not going to ride dump all the gas out, then run the carb out of gas in the float bowl.

Alleyoop In the motorcycle world, we did a comparison (dyno) in HP after switching out a stock muffler system (Honda Shadow) with a 2 into 2 exhaust system We LOST 3 HP.
