Hi i've recently acquired two Huzhou Daixi trikes. My parents bought them brand new a few years ago, rode them for a few months...then never touched them again. I ended up with them, and am trying to get them running. I haven't attempted it yet as the batteries are dead and still need to change out the oil and empty the gas out and refill.
Now I'm pretty handy with my full size vehicle, and do most the work on it myself...so I'm thinking this shouldn't be to hard to handle. I'm just wondering if there is a few specific things I should make sure to check before starting it up.
Also the bodies are pretty faded out and look pretty rough. Does anyone have a good source for new body parts or should i just repaint them?

Repaint the body parts. As for starting it up, I'd follow the PDI instructions found here: x1scooters.com/pdi.html just to make sure the basics have been covered. You'll probably want to take the carb off and clean out the jets and passages while you're at it. Change the spark plug too. congrats on your new trikes! There's lots of knowledge on this forum, so you're at the right place.

I can help you with the trikes, I have a DAIX 2009 PST150H trike those where the first ones in the use back in 2009, I bought two of them march of 2009. Which trikes do you have and what year? Go here and look at the pictures and tell me which ones looks like the two you have. The names usually do not mean much since the dealers name them whatever they want. From the looks of it I'd say i have the PST150-19 and the Cruiser (PST150-11) I do know they are both 2009s.
I'll post some pictures soon, but they do look pretty rough right now lol.

As for the body panels unles they were sitting outside just get some polish. My body panels look like new I give them a polish and I keep my Trike in the garage year round. Difinitely do an oil change I use 10w40 year round. If they have been sitting for a long time, you will need to take the carb off and clean them out I am sure varnish has plugged up the carb passages. Then you can check the the fuel flow. If your tanks or BELOW the carb in front you have a FUEL VACUUM PUMP. If the tanks or ABOVE the CARB you have a VACUUM PETCOCK(GRAVITY FED systm). When you take off the carb to clean them: 1. Take the carb bowl off 2. Unscrew the Jets out 3. Clean the Jets so you can see DAYLIGHT through them. 4. Squirt Carb Cleaner into the holes without the jets in and here is where the SPRAY SHOULD COME OUT: Alleyoop To Clean the ENRICHER PASSAGES Squirt Carb Cleaner into the 3 holes with the Carb bowl off: 1. The Air inlet spray will come out by the side of the AIR FILTER. 2. The Fuel Outlet will come out in front Butterfly. 3. The Fuel Inlet will come out by the Pilot Jet Hole. When you spray into the Jet holes here is where the spray should come out. PILOT JET OUTLETS: MAIN JET OUTLET:

yes they were sitting outside for quiet some time. the paint is cracked and peeling...in some places its gone completely. can i just sand them down by hand and repaint with flat color?
I know the one i'm going to get running 1st is the one on the left. the one on the right has an issue with the electric start and can only be kick started.
Should i go ahead and put a new spark plug in this thing as well? it only has 275km on it, so its not even fully broke in yet and sat that long....i hope that isn't going to be an issue
PS also being a young guy, i've never had the joy of working on a carb, always had fuel injected stuff. this should be a fun learning experience!!

Yea if the paint is cracked and peeling sand it and paint it.
You forgot to put up the pictures(HAHA).
As for the electric start if the battery is dead no electric start. If you have a VOLT METER you can test the batteries out.
Yes Sitting that long mice might have eaten the plug away. Everything helps. Just change the oil before you try to crank them and hope the rings are not welded onto the cylinder. Alleyoop

DUH!! I missed the pictures, they are not bad of shape at all really for 2009 being kept outside part of the time not bad at all. Do they have a KickStart or a PulleyStart. Mine had a Pullstart but I took it off reason is when you pull it also turned the Variator NUT(useless..HAHA). So at least it gets more air inside the CVT with it off. Here is how it looked like behind the CVT COVER pull start. Thats a Prodigy Racing Variator 115mm in diameter. Alleyoop Alleyoop

Hi and welcome!
One note about painting. Make sure you do a good job of sanding and primering before you paint the panels. Also use a paint that is made for plastics for the best results.
If you need parts I will be happy to help you with parts that you can not get aftermarket.

krylon plastic paint. It does come in kinda bold colors but also has some neat textured stuff too for around dash etc.

Hi there! I have been working on getting scooters running again for a nearby scooter dealer. Almost every scooter has been idle for many months up to a couple of years. Nearly every one has had the carb removed to clean because of gummed up old gas. You will need to wash out the fuel tank. Check the float to the fuel tank level sensor. The ethanol gas may have damaged it. The chinese rubber fuel lines get very hard and split. I replace them with 1/4" fuel lines. I use spray carb cleaner to blow out the passage ways and jets. You can also use a torch tip cleaner on the main jet. The pilot jet requires compressed air. The long needle metering rod can be buffed clean with 1500 grit sand paper. The seat for float needle can be cleaned with a cotton Q-tip ear swab soaked with carb cleaner. It will keep turning yellow until you get all the varnish out. Don't reset the float level. It might seem like it is set too high but it is not. Alley has some very good procedures to follow. Good luck.

Hi Folks. I'm also new to the Scooter Trike community. I acquired my 2009 Daix 150cc trike last summer in a trade. There don't seem to be many of these bikes on the road up here in New England, mine is only the second I've seen. The previous owner only had the bike a couple months and seems to really have beat on it. Pull start cord is missing, storage box lights wiring pulled apart, owners manual/ wiring guide missing, underseat carb access panel missing, wiring just laying all over. Handlebar cover cracked/missing pieces, handlebar clamp bolt stripped, etc. etc... Deviant, maybe we can get together and compare notes about we're doing. One question I do have... What is the difference between a PST150-19 and -11..? On AlleyOops -19 CVT cover seems totally exposed, on mine the front 5"-6" of the cover is behind a body panel. How do I get in there to pull cover for belt. variator, roller changes?
