Ok I have a 2005 50cc CPI Oliver City 2 stroke scooter. I left it out in the rain without a cover on it, and now I can not get the thing to turn over. My ignition key turns on the lights and my gas gauge goes up to the right level. I have electricity coming from my spark plug wire (yes im crazy and turned it over touching the wire with my finger), but I havent checked the spark plug itself (I need to gt a ride down to the local store to grab a wrench). I took off the airbox and the filter was a little wet (dried it out). My battery is now low from trying to start the scooter.
Any suggestions?
Also The scooter has been indoors now for about 13 hours drying out.

Possibly water in the carburetor, drain the carb. bowl into a glass jar and check for water.

OK drained the carb. Still no go. Im about to head to the autoparts store. Im grabbing a new plug and some easy start. Anything else I might need?

I forgot to mention last night after the rain died down I went to fire her up and she started but sputtered out and then finally sdtopped starting,

Ok, I have the scooter running. The only thing that I am having an issue with is now my top speed has lowered by 6mph or so.
Any suggestions?
I took the carb off and cleaned it, flushed the tank, took off the air filter and dried it out and cleaned it, changed the spark plug, new spark plug wire.

Also I put the old plug in and it gave me back my speed but then bogged back down and fluctuates. Also I bought the model of spark plug that I read on the sites i linked above. The model that was in the scooter was a NGK B6ES.
Im guessing water in the gas or cheap gas?

Ide say drain the gas. Sounds like a poor fuel/ fuel delivery problem to me. Especially if all electrical components are working properly.

Removed the gas and put in 89 and she was getting up to speed. I couldn't test her out too much today after I exchanged the gas due to more rain.
Does anyone know of a good place online to buy parts for my scooter.
2005 CPI Oliver City 50 cc /w 1800 miles on it. I am looking to get her up to about 40-45 mph once I get all the kinks out of her.

I rode the scooter to school today. I was able for a very short period of time able to get to full speed. After about a half a mile it bogged down and if i went WOT it would bog or die until I released the throttle.
So what is wrong with her?

Pease checkyour air-fuel mix screw on your carb and plug chop(pull your sparkplug ) and check for color at end of tip. Black = too rich , light cream color= too lean . It needs to be a dark tan to tan color at the tip . It sounds like you may be a tad too lean. screw out 1/8 turn and see if that helps. willc.  |

That was a pain in my a$$. I think I got it set right, but I seemed to have lost 5-7 mph.......?
*EDIT*
I actually dont know if I have it or not. There seems to be a wide range of area where the idle doesnt go anywhere. If I go too far clockwise it idles down and then dies. If I go counter clockwise it kind of stays at the same idle all the way until i can not turn the screw anymore. All of which seems to get me up to speed but it feels like i am being held back.
