I HAVE A CHAIN DRIVEN MOPED can someone please set me straight I always thought is was smaller rear sprocket = more top speed bigger rear sprocket = more take off speed smaller front sprocket=more top speed bigger front sprocket= more take off speed am I right or is it the other way around???

No, you have this backwards.
smaller front sprocket=more top speed bigger front sprocket= more take off speed
Bigger front sprocket-more top speed Smaller front-more take off.
The first part of your theory is right.

ok guys I can tell ya bout my moped I have a lazer5 4 stroke 2012 72cc kit it has real good top speed now 65kph/40mph thing is my prob is 2 fold at top speed im hitting the rev limiter & take off is kinda slow now I already have a 37 tooth for the rear but I would like to get a front one that will give me a little more take off speed I know the 37 tooth rear will get me off the rev limiter but I want a little more take off thanks for your intrest if you would like to know more bout the lazer5 I can send link

If you want more take off you need a SMALLER FRONT SPROCKET or go up on the REAR SOME Alleyoop
