www.rippin-kitten.com/2013/06/17/90th-laconia-bike-week/www.motorcycle-usa.com/3787/Motorcycle-Photo-Gallery/2013-Laconia-Motorcycle-Week.aspxI went to AMA Road Races there from 1976 to 1983. It was amazing. There are two things that stick to my mind even to this day. 1) On Long Island where I grew up everything was around the corner. When I first went there I asked where the nearest McDonald's was and was told, "Ten miles up the road." It was like being told it was a thousand. What I didn't realize was that it would only take ten minutes. On Long Island, with lights, that would have taken a half hour. 2) The scene at Weir's Beach was crazy. I saw bikes I had only my heard about in magazines. I saw my first MV Augusta parked on the side of the road. I would just ride to the end of the block and turn around just to be part of the festivities. The crowds were huge and parking was non-existent so I didn't bother mingling. Sounds, music and the smells were out of this world. It's 300 miles from here to there. One year I have to do this.

I was sure that there was a Mickey D's in Laconia since the place is the hub for tourism around Lake Winnipesaukee. I had my usual Big Mac and fries that night. On the east coast you're never far from McD's. There are two within twenty miles of me now. Burger King is another story.

That place has to be a lot of fun. Interestingly enough on that magazine there is a review on 3 bikes similar in size, an 883, a star (yamaha?) and a bonneville , www.motorcycle-usa.com/10/16203/Motorcycle-Article/13-Sportster-883-Iron-vs-Star-Bolt-vs-Bonneville.aspx Around 2002 or 3 when I was looking and eventually bought a 2001 bandit I was looking at the winner of that review a new bonnie. Had it been at any other dealer I just might have gone with it. This dealer was one of them that believes he should get at least retail out of every product he carries.

Been there, did this, moved on. I usually turned around just past the herd and rode back through to get back to the motel.
