Not sure why you do not believe that a Roketa could get 10,000 miles. This one has.
Sadly Luke is one of those people who are badly misinformed. These poor people believe that Chinese scooters are unreliable and the only way to be safe is to spend alot of money for their piece of mind. You can see his insecurity in his fear of riding his scooter long distance. It could be his youth and he'll grow out of it but I think it will lead him to abandon scooters altogether and seek the safety (in his mind) of a motorcycle.

Not sure why you do not believe that a Roketa could get 10,000 miles. This one has. They do not sell the Linhai 257cc scooter now, it could not pass EPA testing. My 2008 is one model year that had the Linhai (Yamaha clone) They use the Honda clone engine now. Enjoy Your Ride.... bhinch, i beg you to please watch this video with all your heart, understand it's message and mentally digest what the guy is trying to convey. this video serves as a wake up call. had posted this video several times but i don't think you saw it, so here yah go!! kz, watch closely with an open mind. ----->

Look like is just what they are. I park the Reflex next to them and it is like parking a truck next to a Tonka Toy. A lot of them Chino scoots in Florida and they love them. But a Honda they are not...

This dolt again!! Seriously Luke? He owns a Vespa and is sadly misinformed just like you. He shows you a flogged scooter and that's supposed to be proof positive. Let me tell you Luke. The guy who beat up that Chinese scooter would do worse to a Morphous....or a Vespa. I don't know why this imbecile's opinion is so important to you.
He would swear. like you, that a Chinese scooter wouldn't last. Yet there are many Roketas on these forums with over 10,000 miles. I feel really bad for you Luke. Your penchant to follow the herd is pitiful. As an experienced biker, racer and scooter owner I think I'm a better source of information than a long haired dolt on a Vespa.
OH, and take the word of a vastly experienced Motorcyclist. A Guzzi? If you think Chinese scooters are bad, buy an Italian motorcycle. I would take a Roketa motorcycle over any Guzzi, any day.
And Luke, wanna see the mistake I made? I've been saving this proof of Japanese inferiority just for you. No more Japanese junk for me. Vastly superior China bikes from now on.

kz,here's the thing,, if you're going to do a long ride going to the west coast, which scooter are you confident to ride? a 250 chinese rocketa ? or a HONDA reflex?
your 45years riding experience is at stake here so be careful with your answer....plus, i have a double major in psychology so i know if you are playing a reverse psychology or not...
just be honest

A trip cross country?? A CF Moto Fashion. A clone of the greatest touring scooter ever made. Remember the Helix put your poor Morphous to shame with it's legendary feats. Next, my 150 Bashan.
Remember me? I also owned a Honda Big Ruckus, same engine as a Reflex. Tin transmissions just don't cut it. And it's 51 years of riding experience. I can ride the crates they come in,......without a trailer in sight.
I could ride cross country on my 50cc bike.

One guy over in Hudson has a Chino 150 scoot and has, well I have not seen him for several months, but he had at that time 48,000 plus miles on it and he said only tires belts and rollers. But the over all looks of the scoot were not good, rust and dull. I do know he had never been more than 80 miles or so from and all local running. I think is an 2004, serves him well and gives him about 57 mph by GMS

Luke is at it once again! Won't listen to the people that have experince not only riding, but selling and repairing Chinese Scooters. I have asked him several times to show his credentials, sadly he won't or he doesn't have any. He looks and looks for people who have had issues or calls them junk to support his arguement. He doesn't look or research for those that have high mileage on there scooters.
I reported a couple years ago about one of my first customers with a roketa 50cc that had over 10.000 miles on his, he uses it daily to check his traps, for the heck of it I called him yesterday, his 50cc is still running strong, he still rides it and his odometer is now over 18,000. Still starts, still goes down the road, he overkills and changes his oil every 600 miles, but it has and is still serving him well. I have others that have over 8,000 on theirs. Remember, we sell them and work on them, don't just sit in our bedroom in front of a computer and drop ship scooters. Nor do we sit behind a computer and speak of what we don't know.
I will say that not all chinese scooters are created equal. I will also say that Dong Fang reverse trikes have issues, along with that it seems to be almost impossible to get parts for them. But, I have not heard of motor issues with them. I have heard that they have improved, just haven't seen a new one to make an honest judgement. Ice Bear use to offer them and had to quit due to too many issues and non availablity of parts from their supplier ( Sunny). So there you go Luke, bad mouth them and I doubt you will not get an arguement.
Have a great day and go polish your trailer.
Jim

a 250 chinese rocketa ? or a HONDA reflex?
And to answer you directly. If the Roketa Reflex replica in question had a CN-250 (Honda Helix clone) engine, Where would the trouble be? Now no hate mail from Linhai Yamaha fans, it's a personal preference. To shut Luke up I'd even do it on a Linhai, it's equally a great motor. I would just have to stop at Cookees shop on the way out for the first and only valve adjustment. Mike could do it days faster than me. Then California here I come.

Just looked at registration of the 2008 and I goofed with the 5 year thing, I only had it 4 years, I registered and licensed it 7/27/09.
Has any one ever looked to see the numbers of real honda's verses the clones yet? If the clones do not out number the real ones now I am sure they will. I don't think I ever saw a real reflex my self, just the clones. I am sure the clones will out number the real ones by a large margin.

Wonder where we could find them? I did find something interesting www.motorscootershopper.com/chinese-scooters.aspThis explains the FUD principle, Hey Luke are you a FUD? ?? Jim Jim

Great article and its true that is the way it works. The brand dealers are naturally saying blah blah blah trying to put fear into a buyer and get them to buy their pricey scoots. But if they are buying to save money on gas they will not save any money in the long run due to the initial price and if something goes south the labor cost and overpriced parts to fix it. Alleyoop

Except for the ones pictured in Craigslist I've only seen two Reflexes in the flesh. One at a Honda dealer as its new owner took it home and my buddy, who picked up the Fashion for me, has one. Both of the ones I've seen were Canary Yellow.
Just got this e-mail from a woman in New Hampshire who used to own a "Rocket", now a BMS Metro.
HI Jim: Thought I would email you as to the progress of my bms cub clone. Runs wonderful!! Breaks down the hills like nobody,s ever been there before...and I have 990 kilometers on her. (367 miles). I have had it up to speeds of 55 mph and confirmed this with the GPS unit. Really a lot of torque. My son followed me yesterday up to Vt. Country Store in Rockingham, Vt. and I lost him. Had to wait for 10 minutes so he could caught up. No fun! But the little 50cc is no match for a 106-110 cc engine. No problems so far. Keeping my fingers crossed. Impressed with your 82 miles trip on the Bashan. She is and was a nice little rig, unfortunately. its hill climbing ability was not to great. Take care, CN (NH)
As you can see she loves it. The 50cc her son rides is a Tao Tao destined to spend its days in NYC.

They were doing the fud thing when I bought the majesty too. Told me you just can't get chinese parts when I mentioned I really wanted a new chinese big scooter (250 or better). When I found you can get chinese parts the next day and there were no parts in this country for my yamaha that was only 4-5 years old and the same engine as current model I would have loved to meet back up with the a hole who sold me the majesty and done something to the side of his head. I had only bought a few parts to upgrade the 150 at that time.
Getting the numbers for honda clones here will probably be hard to get as few importers give figures but just look at all of them in 3rd world countrys and they run forever there. possibly if some one had a in at a few states dmv or the us dot maybe we could find some thing out.
