Hi all, seeing as you lovely people solved my last issue ;D I was wondering if someone could help me with an ongoing one I seem to be having... Pulse rage 125 - 2010 plate First start up of the day is like a lottery, either will straight away or takes ages..i was advised that may have needed a new spark plug, so I fitted one, I was then advised after that had made no difference what so ever that it could be the choke, so i replaced that with a new one, which surprise surprise made no difference what so ever ! Once its running its fine...As soon as the bike cools down during the day it is also either real easy or a pig to start..I've got to the point where I don't know what to do Any help or advice is appreciated

I don't know what kind of fuel you guys run in the UK but I'm thinking gunk in the carburetor that will stop up the enrichening circuit. Is Seafoam or some kind of fuel system cleaner available? Next, check for cracks in the intake manifold, been there and it had me scratching my head. Obviously you have some condition that is leaning out the mixture when it needs its most fuel. A good test would be to put fuel in the intake by squirting through a vacuum line on the manifold. If it starts you'll know it's not getting enough fuel at start up.

Had my carb in bits this afternoon it was like a new one , checked for air leaks , there wasn't any. Ran out of daylight so will try valve clearances tomorrow after work.

When the valves tighten up usually the exhaust valve since that it the one that gets really hot it will bang on the head and there will be no gap between the rocker and the stem. So what happens is the valve now does NOT SEAL and you loose compression and makes them harder to start. It gets worse after the motor gets really hot and when coming to stops it will want to die UNLESS you give it some throttle and or RAISE the idle higher than it should be. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop That's exactly what happens. It gets worse after the motor gets really hot and when coming to stops it will want to die UNLESS you give it some throttle and or RAISE the idle higher than it should be....definitely will take a look tomorrow after work.
