Every scoot Ive seen with a trunk usually just mounts hard plastic to either metal or more plastic. I plan to go to the hardware store tomorrow and get some rubber washers/bushings to put between the box and the mounting surface. Anybody done this? Worth the effort?

Probably not. The rattling comes from the lid and bottom slamming against each other. I found a few pieces of soft rubber wedged in the lip between them keeps it in check for a while. The trunk is so light for a rubber mount to work and dampen the jarring it would have to have some real spongy mounting washers and then it would be able to move around more than you want.

Best if the whole trunk is rattling on the mounts is to drill 4 holes inside the bottom of the trunk and put nice big washers under the bolt and now your trunk is bolted down nice and solid. Then the only thing that will rattle is the lid which you can get 1/4 inch thin window weather strip roll and put it around the lip indentation where the lid close on, Case of rattling trunk solved. All my troubles with the trunk rattling came from the lid and bottom hitting together. I just got used to it but I can see how it would drive some people nuts.
