I just recently purchased a yy250t and the fuel gauge did not work. I tried a coat hanger in the tank, but that did not work. I called the company and they sent me a new float assembly. My problem is where does it go. Also the spring on the seat does not hold it up any more. Can it be adjusted? By the way I am a newbie.

It is on TOP OF THE FUEL tank Toward the rear of the tank. Look on top of the Tank and you will see wires going to the Float Assembly. Alleyoop

Interesting. I also own a MC 54 250B with the vertical engine and it has the fuel gauge at the back of the tank. When I first bought the machine new, one problem was that the gas was leaking around the gauge mounting area. I finally found it to be leaking through the gauge itself. So I ended up smearing the outside of the gauge with sealer stuff from the auto store. Now three years later it is still holding. No more gas leaking. If it had started to leak some more I was willing to order a new fuel gauge assembly.
My seat does stay up a bit but not enough to work under there. So I bought half inch dowel at Lowes, or any lumber yard. Cut it to about 2 feet long and use it between the back of the box and up to a dent in the seat underside. Now the seat stays wide open. Probably need to design you own length and where to have it push up on the underside.
I just store it right in the compartment so it is always handy. .

Yes he has the YY250T which is a little different than the MC-54-250B. Alleyoop

Allyoop, my scoot is also called a YY250T or I would not have put up my post.
It is noted as a YY250T in paper work and also on the EPA tag for the machine. .

Don't know but the YY250T shows that the float sensor is on top of the gas tank that is all I know. Maybe they put on whatever tanks they have laying around who knows. Alleyoop

There is a much better chance that the problem is not the sensor but an electrical connector or connection under the plastic on the way to the gas gauge. Most of the components are pretty decent but the connections leave some to be desired and you have to figure that the scooter is a long long way from where it came from riding in ships and many trucks bouncing around.

Hey, where ever the damn Sensor is, it's a no brainer to find for crying out loud, just follow the wires going to the tank and WHOLA. I said what I said because that is what the YY250T Service Manual shows the sensor to be. Alleyoop

That may be so Allyoop. But what does the YY250T mean. It is not the scooter type at all. Maybe it is a power grouping code.
For two common scooter there is the MC 54 250 that runs a vertical engine of 244cc. And the big brother MC 54B 250 has the more powerful horizontal engine of what? 257cc I think. It also has a rear entry for the sensor but the tank is all different shape. .

BOBF, YY250T does not mean a thing because dealers slap on any emblems they want they can even give them different names. So you do not know what you bought until you get it in your driveway.
TROPIKS7, Just follow the wires to the tank wherever they lead to on the tank and WHOLA, you found the sensor that you have to change.. Alleyoop

Folks, I kept looking and asking about the YY250T that so many of us have on our scoots. Finally came across the reason for this was because of California laws it appears. It is a legal description of the motor etc. as required by law. It does not describe the scooter otherwise as the manufacturer and distributors or dealers might do. This has always been confusing to me as many people describe their machines as YY250T but as they describe their problems it is obvious that they have a machine much different than mine. I guess I would prefer that folks use a specific type of machine that they own, rather than the generic term of YY250T. Just my opinion and probably won't change much on the forums. For me I own a MC 54 250 from Roketa. www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert/hmc/2010/benzhou_m1590006_250-257-275_0d8_h.pdf.

For me I own a MC 54 250 from Roketa. . With either a horizontal or a vertical engine! The mc54 a and b have both had each of the motors so there is almost no way to tell what any one has unless they specify model and motor!

I do agree with your idea a model and motor as that is the way I mostly post. I say MC 54 250 with vertical engine. If you go into Roketa and see all the machines they do sell and how they identify them you will find that MC 54 250 is sold as a vertical engine 244cc. MC 54B 250 is sold as a 257cc horizontal engine. How those machines ended up with other engines could be from some very sloppy paper work. That of giving a buyer something that did not match his purchase or the dealer shipping the wrong product of what was promised or just plain confusion when ordering, I don't know for sure. When I ordered my scoot, I at first thought I had ordered the bigger engine. When it arrived I found different and right now glad I did not get the 54B model with the horizontal engine. www.roketapartsdept.com/catalog/Scooter_Parts-52-1.htmlAll scoots are shown and the proper parts are also shown. Where I live right now there are no scooter outlets, but I did find a motorcycle dealer that said he would work on my scoot if need be. Just wonder how much his clock time might be for such service. So far I have done my own work and it is slow with all those pretty panels hiding everything. If I buy another I think I will look for one with most of the mechanical parts exposed. I really don't need all this pretty plastic in my way. .

Thank you for all your input. One last question. Do I need to take the body off?
