All the clutchs are about the same, when they call a performance clutch is the Springs they put on them. Blue, Yellow or Red. The Springs are usually rated at 1000, 1500 and 2000. All they do is MORE RPMS before they the pads get thrown out to grab the bell to turn the wheel. Think of it as a Car with a CLUTCH you put the Clutch in put it in gear and REV the motor up then pop the clutch and spin your rear wheels.
So why do you want a PERFORMANCE CLUTCH? Or why do you think you need one? Since you can buy the springs and not a brand new clutch with the different springs already installed. It is very easy to put in higher rated springs and you will have your performance clutch using what is on there now, unless of course your current pads are all worn out or chipped. Alleyoop

I'm not entirely sure if I need the whole clutch as I haven't had the old one off all the way. I'm sure that before I took this bike apart a hundred times and realized how it works, I was idling way too high where the wheel would be spinning if it were on the stand. I'm about 275 and live at the bottom of a long steep Hill. Any suggestions as to the color of choice.? That's IF I can get this thing to even run well enough for long enough to even worry about the clutch. I just posted my latest quandary to the troubleshooting section. Big surprise, bbk problems.

Usually the springs colors are rated as follows: 1K(Blue)
1.5K (Yellow)
2K (Red)
What that means is IF CURRENTLY your scoot starts to move at SAY 2500 rpms what you do is ADD the Spring RATE to your current RPMS. Example: Currently your scoot starts to move at 2500 and you put on the 1000 rated springs NOW your scoot will need the RPMS to RISE to 3500 rpms before the Clutch Pads get thrown out and grab the bell to turn your wheel.
Going up a hill how you want the CVT to work is YOU DO NOT want to loose RPMS the MPH you will loose but you need the MOTOR to keep making about the same power so you do not wind up walking the scoot up(HAHA).
To accomplish this you can work with the Variator weights, Lighter weights will raise your RPMS and Heavier Weights will lower your RPMS. But you do not want to light of weights that will cause you to loose top end so it is a trial and error with the weights and how you ride and where you ride.
You can also work with the Clutch Springs to keep the motor's rpms in the powerband. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop, as it is now, when the thing is running I can actually accelerate all the way up the hill to a top speed of about 42, the hill is about. 0.7 miles and I live on the incline. Your explanation of the springs is the best thing I have heard. I have heard that an NCY HiT Clutch is bar none the best thing out there for grip and has 2 separate settings for spring engagement. Claims that the guy got his front wheel off the ground with a 50cc. That sounds suspect but the website is interesting read.
