Mr. Alley Opp Sir: I request that this and Luke's other insults in this thread be moved to OUR thread where they belong. EVERYONE knows that the Eton Beamer is made in Taiwan. I'm tired of reading his baseless, inflammatory statements. Free speech is one thing, hurling prejudicial epithets are another. We have a place to fight with each other, let him use it.

That's what I kind of thought. Big rock!
What I would do If you can't get some tig welding done is to go to a briggs muffler and drill and tap smaller screws into what is left to support it.
Outside of changiing the case you don't have a lot of options left to do. When you weld on a case with out separating it you will damage any plastic parts such as oil seals and gaskets and can possibly warp it too. When welding aluminum you get it almost hot enough to melt and the way heat travels in aluminum all of it gets really hot. Only the weld gets just slightly hotter in the melting area. Even if you do get the case repaired I would seriously consider a light weight muffler because it will never be as strong as when it was new. Even running a straight pipe you will still need to support it at the end where the case is broken because the viberations will break the studs off the head.

I suspected some sort of off-road activity was involved. No point in casting aspersions though. I've had my own share of young and foolish type adventures. Still do on occasion.

I have gone off-roading with it the same day but, after I checked all of the parts and they e're fine because I do some motocross also and its a habit of mine. I pulled out of the trails and was going 15mph down the dirt road and an unexpected large rock collided with the exhaust and snapped it off. Last time I go off-road with a scooter.

how much would it cost to bring it to a mechanic and have it alum-welded. I just need to rough estimate.

Too many variables in your question. Not knowing your city is one thing but there are all kinds of "WELDERS" and welding shops. Some are shops who just got a tig unit and some are real pro welders and they charge accordingly. A few years ago there were none of the cheap tig units and the only people who did aluminum were good shops with heli-arc.
I would take your motor out and take it with you and ask at a real welding shop what they would want and how much dis-assembly you need to do for them to weld it up. Heat travels real quick in alu. and anything plastic attached to the case is going to melt. They may want both sides of an empty case bolted together to keep them from warping too.
