www.motorcycle-usa.com/573/17533/Motorcycle-Article/2012-BMW-K1600GT-and-GTL-Recall-Notice.aspxTwo things. 1) A software problem on a $25,000 motorcycle?? I thought they went through a zillion miles of testing before production. Sounds like another science fiction Germanic build problem to me. 2) Anyone here have anymore questions about why I think carburetors are always the best bet for something on two wheels. None of mine ever went into "Limp Mode" and stalled on me. Maybe I just didn't pay enough money for the privilege.

I was riding a Beemer when the K bikes first came out. The first year or so was nightmare with multiple electronic failures. Maybe this species won't be as bad. But LOOK at it, it is awesome!
I could put up with a lot for that bike.

Anyone else remember when they started putting computerized crud in every factory they could laying off everyone. Oh everything will be better and cheaper now....still tons of recalls and defects everywhere.....but things are cheaper right?

I worked with a guy who had a first year K1000. His instrument panel stopped working within a few months. Eventually BMW acknowledged it and a fix was made. My KZ1000 with carbs and analog gauges never did that.
It is gorgeous Rich, but it's huge. Ever see a picture of it with a person on it. They look tiny. I look at it and think, "What if it fell over??" Who'd be there to pick it up with me and how much would it cost to fix the broken pieces.
