OK, I posted this over at scootdawg with no luck. Maybe I can get some luck here.

My headlights wouldnt work the other day. I played around with it and they will work when I keep the "passling light" button pushed. My tail lights and cooling fan works when Im on high beam only. Headlights dont work on either high or low beam, only when the "passing lights" button is pushed.

The 15A fuse at the battery is good. Any idea what i can do? I have the MC54-250B clone.

The passing lights.. usually a trigger switch on the front of the controls on the left side that activates the high beam when you pull it. I havent seen any scoots come with this stock so its probably an aftermarket switch thats been wired up wrong. Even if its stock thats probably where your problem is.

I did fail to mention that for four months everything was fine. It just started doing all this the other day. I don't want to give any false information but JRR, the fan does come on,,,, only when the scooter warmed up.... just like it should. But in order for it to come on, I have to have the high beams on. If the coolant temp isnt hot enough yet, it will not come on.

Ill strip the plastics down today (sigh) and start looking around. I will report back.

Wow, I found the problem fast. Check out my picture below to see where I found a connector loose!!



I am now presented with a problem that arose a month or so ago when I did my full PDI. After changing all of my vacuum and fuel lines last month I started the scooter up and after a minute or so I had smoke coming from the right rear of the scooter. I seen that the plastic connector was roasted so I re-routed the wire. After re routing the wire, I let it run for 10 minutes or so with no smoking and/or melting. Well when I stumbled upon the headlight solution, I looked at this wire I re-routed and it is again melting and smoking (see pic). I know these three yellow wires go to the top of the engine oil crankcase (??) but what are the other ends of this connected to? Oh, and these 3 wires aren't normal electrical wires with plastic coating its a different type of coating, kind of like its insulated.

What can I do to stop this and where does it go to? I finally got my headlight/taillight/cooling fan issue fixed but I dont feel safe riding until I get the burnt wire issue repaired.

OK, I have traced the wires that goes into the crankcase housing from this burnt connector and all look to be fine. What exactly do these wires go into in the crankcase housing anyways?

What is, and where is the stator?

On the other side of the connector, the wires run up the frame to under the cover that hides the fuel tank. I havnt got to remove that yet. What do they go?? I am at a stand still for now as I have to get ready for work.

I found the problem

Being that it was only getting hot and melting at that connector, and no where else on those wires, that it HAD to be the connection. I cut that wire, stripped it, and reconnected it as good as I could. Result? No more melting wire!!!!

I have a yy250t that is dead except the horn, front turn signals and passing lights from the dimmer switch. There is 12 volts to the ignition switch, and the fuse box get 12 volts to three of the 4 blades. Question, should all of the fuse blade holders have 12 volts with the ignition on? If so, could i have a bad fuse holder? ( have replaced the ignition switch and the security unit...by the way, there is power to the security unit ). Tail lights do not come on at all. Help will be appreciated. Thanks.

That would be the case here,,,check the fuse holder to see if there's any broken wires or if it's melted anywhere

I have looked very closely to the fuse box (fuse holder) and do not see any issues. Is this worth replacing the 4 blade fuse holder?

I bridged a wire between the last fuse the was dead, and the adjacent fuse holder. The headlights and taillights came on, but no break lights and the engine does not turn over. What would be the next thing to do other than trashing the whole scooter....

Try jumping the solenoid to see if you can get this puppy to turn over,,,

Yes, jumping the solenoid will turn the stater motor. I appreciate your help and thanks. Hope you will continue. I knew nothing about these scooters. Learning a little as we go....ha.

Couple of notes concerning my issues with the yy250t scooter. I have replaced most of the switches including the starter switch, and aslo the rectifier. I just replaced the relay, and as mentioned replaced the security/start module has been replaced. I also have replaced the right handle bar stop switch.
Now, if i remember, the headlights should go on after the scooter starts, but the headlights and the taillight go on with the ignition turned on. Is that a problem? Still, the stop lights do not work, and there is no power to the right handle bar stop switch, and pressing to starter button does nothing. Thanks! Additional help will be appreciated.

Check the ground to the frame handlebar ,,,sometimes that wire fails

Also please inspect the rear lite bulb,,look closely as sometimes at a quick glacé it looks good,,
