the Chinese will do exactly as they're told. "Build us the cheapest piece of crap you can" Yes they will And that is the problem with the majority of the Chinese scoots. The drop shippers want CHEEEEP the cheaper the better. They sell them on line no factory or dealer support. You have a bad stator send us a picture of it and we'll see if we have one. Next month you call tham about a bad rectifier"Um we don't sell scooters any longer but I can give you such a deal on a hot tub. Drop shippers and E~Bay sellers have given the Chinese scoots a bad name and that is why a long term reputible scooer shop doesn't sell or service them. A local scooter shop use to sell TNG scoots in addition to Vespa,Kymco,Stella etc to get entry level scoorist in the door. They sold them for about a year and discontinued selling them before they went bankrupt. They said that the factory support was nile and they had to eat too many warranty claims. I have witnesed a drop shippers operation once they go out the door it's buyer beware. I love the Carpi scoot it was suppose to be a Capri but legendary Chinese quality control let it slip by.

My Stella has both electric and kick. I use the the kicker more often than the electric. My vespa doesn't have an electric starter it doesn't even have a battery. Most people think tha my Stella is older than it actually is so I give them the image they are right and kick it besides it's the manly thing to do.

Luke if ignorance is bliss, you're the happiest m@th@rf#k@r i've ever met,,,10 years ago i wouldn't have taken a chinese scoot as a gift,,but HUGE strides have been made in quality in everything made in china,,,i personally have owned ALL the supposedly super high quality machines,,they all had issues EVERY ONE ,, and here i was ordering a china scoot not even two months ago,the only reason i dont have it was the vendor had delivery problems, jeez even your wonderscoot had a recall from the traffic safety commission because of the fuel pump wireing problem,,not from yamaha ,,the dot,,saying serious injury or death can occur unless the problem was rectified,,,piaggio,,bmw,,ect are all useing chinese stuff ,,,i would not doubt it for a second the mill in my et is a chinese built unit,,and a quick check on the net just now confirms this ,,,, the engine and trans made in taiwan ,,and assembled in taiwan and italy ,so the so called super high quality italian story is just that another story,,

And another quick check of the net,,turns up tons o round the world rides on vespas, genuines, everthing but a morphous,,one wonders why,,,,such a super spaceship should do such trivial feats with the ease of going to the grocery store,,,geez even my lowly dr350 model has been around the world a few times,,some with little more than flats/tire changes and chains,,,and in your defence luke your statements as of late would have had some validity even up to 5 years ago,,not any more, and if we (the western world) doesn't watch it and pick it up we are going to get steam rolled by the chinese,,cause they's a coming and they is good

Quite so. That's why you do your homework and not buy from Sunny sports or a host of others. I bought mine from GS Motorworks. "What? Your exhaust cracked a heat shield. The new pipe is on the way." five days later it arrived. "What you broke valve springs? Do you want a new head?" Five days later it arrived. Tony at AA Scooters knew that parts were necessary and stocked them.
They said that the factory support was nile and they had to eat too many warranty claims.
Your dealer has no idea of the distributor's tactics he was talking about. TNG were Znens, no problem with that factory. At the same time Znen also sold to Flyscooters. No one who sold Flyscooters had that problem. Leon stocked parts to back his sales. TNG was the importer. They didn't stock parts and stuck it to the dealers. Don't blame the Chinese for crass Americans. Lance, Wolf, Puma all sell through dealerships. All Chinese built and covered with customer satisfaction. It's a new day.
Not that the old days were bad for smart people. Five years ago everybody who went to Scoot Dawg and asked were steered towards GS Motorworks. None were disappointed. It's why Tao Tao bought the company. Anybody who bought a SunL had trouble. No surprise. They were cheapest.
Here's how it goes. I bought two Bashans and a CF Moto. I researched, I read posts, I learned. Any problems I've had were not the scooter's fault. I caused most of my Bashan's troubles, yet it still runs and is closing in on 8,000 miles.
I won't even wave Rocket's track record at you. It makes a Morphous look fragile and unreliable by comparison. I only have 3,000 miles on it so it's barely broken in.

Great read KZ,,good stuff,,so us new guys have been rehashing the rehash,,,and making the same exact assumptions you did years ago,,,and bathtub boy was spouting the same kaka,,what sparked my interest was a little redhead that works at the coffee shop and she bought a aprilia scareabo,,let me ride it around the parking lot,,and i thought to myself I GOTTA GET ME ONE OF THESE!!!!!! fun fun fun,,,now i know it wasn't chinese,,but it lit the fire to get a scooter.,,,and then i lurked the forums and saw and heard what i needed to hear,,,thats why i ordered the ssr in the first place,,,i walked into the local vespa shop and looked at the msrp's and almost started throwing punches around,so i knew the way to go was with a chinese import,,,now don't forget my last ducati (cagiva gran canyon 900 desmodue engine),,ONE of the two fuel tanks is $2000 unpainted,,so looked to find good to great reviews and reading you guys via the creeper method convinced me (a long suffering elitest motosnob) that i've been f@(king up all these years buying bikes for well north of ten large,,,I just got lucky with the et and turns out as of this mornings cruise of the net the damned thing is taiwanese inside,,the only thing italian in the bike is the body and the gauges,,,i may get a shifter stella BUT if a decent chinese scoot presents itself on CL first the stella will be there when i want it ,

They are a reputable dealer you have a scoot under warranty they fix it they don't give you a new head and say have a nice day.And that is where the problem comes in you buy a new car and spin a rod bearing the dealer going to give you a new bearing? I have owned 3 brand new Chinese scoots one was good and 2 not so good.Seat ripped with less than 100 miles, dashboard cracked and was litteraly falling on the ground, overhating issues, etc. Factory support none dealer support none but he had a lot of good excuses. There is a reason that reputable shops steer clear of the drop shipper specials.I did have good luck with my RC Moto Hot Rod 150 which was unheard of back in 2005 when EVERYBODY was having issues with China scoots. They were cheap to buy and sold well. Thank God for Scootdawg they pulled alot of guys out of the hot water back in the day and now we have scoot doc but the problems are essentially the same.

Listen Randy I told you before. We have to agree to disagree.
They are a reputable dealer you have a scoot under warranty they fix it they don't give you a new head and say have a nice day.And that is where the problem comes in you buy a new car and spin a rod bearing the dealer going to give you a new bearing? If I bought the car online, for thousands less, in a crate I would expect nothing else
If I buy a scooter from a Brick and Mortar shop they darn well better give and cover a warranty. I would be paying extra for the privilege of giving them my money. I don't have a B&M China shop within 100 miles of me. I bought online, as did many others. It says in BIG letters "Parts Only Warranty". GS always delivered parts while I was under warranty. That puts them one up on TNG. This myth that all crate scooters come from thieves is just that, a myth. I have enough miles on the Bashan to say it's a good bike. For people who need the help from a dealer, you're right, any crate scooter is a bad idea, even if it came from Vespa.
Unlike a heavy percentage of people who buy online I can actually read. It's all spelled out. The warranty, the prep advise, all of it. Many say, "If this scooter isn't prepared by a qualified shop, the warranty is void." If you can't do the work then don't buy the product.
It's not the product that's bad. China scooters from a China scooter dealer are just as good as anything else. No the problem is the customers. China scooters don't let people down, People let the scooters down.
now we have scoot doc but the problems are essentially the same.
Yes. People with no previous mechanical experience are having to learn to get their hands dirty and take care of all the things that a dealer would have fixed, out of the crate, if it came from a shop.

Apparently the Japanese. Have you ever seen a Yamaha Morphous. Bad clutches and variators, leaking fuel pump, corroding electrical connections, terrible shocks with no dampening, windshields that fall off. It's so bad the owners have to trailer their loads to the grocery store and call a trip to Starbucks a long ride. Great Balls of Fire-literally.
At least the Chinese build 50cc bikes that do 80 mile trips with ease.
