Fingers crossed here in Connecticut. Surprised they haven't jumped on the license and registration bandwagon yet.

The last line of that article points to a more likely motivation--$70K

Everyone that drives on the roads should have a registered ride and insurance period. As for whatever it brings to the state is peanuts. Now if it was a little town 70K would mean a lot. Also this will get the young 90mph hunched over the handlebars off the streets as well as the DUIs that had their Privileges taken away. Alleyoop

drunkcycles !!! I believe if you are going to drive on the streets....its license and ins. And those with out a license can not have ins., most all the policies I have looked at say some thing about licensed drivers only. And registration would help stem theft. Seems most all scooters stolen are 50s and almost impossible to trace them even if the cops know its been swiped not much to prove who really owns it.

Sorry i didn't mean to go political,,i do believe they should have insurance just in case of an accident,,,not so sure about a license for something so small and slow,,it's just another revenue stream to be tapped,,,

I never looked at it from that point of view,,,i don't drink or use drugs myself ,,and don't think that way,,and didn't realize people with dui convictions can use them to skirt the loss of license,,,the only thing i know is you don't need a license for a moped (a real moped with pedals)and if you get caught going over 25 or thirty it's a major fine,,,you do need to transfer the bike in your name at purchase with a small fee for that but no yearly tag fees,,,not sure about scooters, but if memory serves i think you have to have yearly tags on them no matter the size

thats like it is here in mi. gotta have a drivers license or a 'moped' license to ride one here. i got a drivers license but no cycle endorsement because its not required. all you gotta do here is register it and get a sticker. hope that doesnt change anytime soon. nice not needing the endorsement.

the 50cc's limited to 35. But all the 50cc riders here want a bbk to go 50 so, get a lic, get ins, and register it

Here in AZ, we have to have a drier's license and insurance to ride a moped and an MC license and insurance for anything 40cc and over. We have 2 classes of MC licensing...a J license for 49cc to 150 cc and an M license for all bikes over 150cc. I think, pretty much like everyone else, the rider/driver should have a license and insurance if they're going to ride on the streets. It protects everyone if there's an accident.
