ok so I know nothing about scooters/mopeds .. BUT my wifes moped quit working so we took it to someone we know that knows a good bit about them .. well they looked at it for a while but then got dark so they said if we wanted to that we could leave it there (at their house) and they would look at it in the morning .. so we left it there then went back the next day and it was completely taken apart and he had used parts off of my wifes moped to put onto his sons .. obviously we were pretty pissed so my wife gave him a good cussing and he put some of it back together but still didn't fix the problem .. my problem right now is the air box .. on some of the pics I looked up I see that there is a hose connected to it but on hers there isn't (well there might have been but when they gave it back they didn't hand over a hose so idk) so im needing to know if there is in fact a hose that's supposed to go there and what it goes to .. like I said I know nothing about these things so if you could respond in a way kinda like mopeds/scooters for dummies that would be great .. thank you in advance for your help

A picture of the air box so we could see the hose you're talking about would be nice but I don't think that's the problem. It sounds like you've had the scooter awhile. After 1,000 miles they're all in need of a valve clearance adjustment. If it's a 50cc as I suspect they come with the valves adjusted at a mere .002 of an inch gap. This will close up, hold the valves slightly open and keep the engine from starting. Unless the hose hooks up to the intake manifold or something that does go to the manifold I wouldn't think it would keep the engine from starting. We have videos and manuals telling you how to perform a valve adjustment in our tech section.

the initial problem was it would try to turn over but wouldn't start and there is no spark coming from the spark plug from what ive read that can either be the cdi or the stator .. well my dad tested the stator and that's fine he told me to order a cdi so ive done that and now im waitin for it to come in .. now all I need to do is figure out what hoses go where .. ill try to get some pics of it and post them ..

Pictures of the carb area and hoses then we can tell you which hoses go where. Also how did you check for spark? Are you sure you have the KILLSWITCH on the run position that is the RED swivel switch on the right hand grip. Also some have a killswitch on the sidestand make sure the sidestand is up and you try to start it on the center stand. Alleyoop You can use this to post pics it is easy and free: 1. That hose can be from several things. It could be the Valve Cover Vent hose or it could be from a Canister that is for some emission that is on that scoot. So since it is dark out tomorrow or whenever look for canisters and take pic of the canister. Here are a the emissions some of the scoots come with to give you a heads up for what your looking for. Alleyoop scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/9153Also check to see if a hose is attached to the valve cover like this the hose connected to the valve cover at the top.

on hers there isn't a hose where the one in the picture is that's why im asking if its needed or can it just be capped off .. I know im not being too helpful or imformative but like I say I know nothing about these things .. there isn't a model type or anything which is why its a little bit more difficult to look stuff up on it which is why I came here

Then that hose that you pointed out on the air box probably goes on there. DO NOT CAP that connecter that is what vents the motors crankcase it has to vent. But I will wait for pics of the carb area and any canister DID YOU CHECK OUT THE LINK I PUT UP for all the possible EMISSIONS that could be on there? Alleyoop

In his defense I have swapped parts to another scoot for diagnostic purposes to see if that finds the problem. You may have jumped the gun leaving with it so soon.
