What is so difficult about removing your R/R? It has four wires plugging into it and one bolt holding it on. It makes me wonder if you're on the right component. If you're getting 15 volts at the battery at idle that's a bad R/R. The white and yellow should be around 12v AC hooked up to the R/R and 40 and 20 unhooked. The Scooter Doc Manual has a chapter on stator testing.

If you want a timing advance CDI talk to John at NYC Scooter. I installed one and it works great. You can read about it right here.

That was funny! I was dragged kicking and screaming into computers mainly because of looking for tech help on Scoot Dawg and then starting Scooter Doc with Jack. Then my wife had to have a virus removed in 2010 and we were charged $150.00. I said shoot I can do that and took some classes. We studied the history of the card and spool machines and it was amazing what they could do. Now it's all moving so fast, DDR4 RAM, 4TB HDDs, solid state drives coming into play. It's a hard field to keep up with, I pine for simpler times. Now get off of my damn lawn you snapper whipper!

I doubt you have a red off of your stator. However, it sounds like a standard GY6 single phase stator. In these cases the headlight and many other lights run off of the yellow regulated wire that runs to the R/R and then out to various lights. Set your multi to AC voltage in a range that will handle up to 100v AC. Then ground one probe of the multi and touch the other probe to a bare spot on the yellow wire. You can usually pull the connector insulation back where the yellow hooks to the R/R. Start the bike and get a reading at idle and then get a reading with some RPMs. Let us know what you get.

Very entertaining G Man, thanks for posting. The cameraman does need a little less camera movement, that's for sure John.

Get a new carb instead of chasing individual components. They run $25 to $45 and are readily available.

Why do you think you need a CDI?

Well first of all clean up all of your wires and contacts. As Alley said, and he's no slouch with electrics, what are your wire colors? If you have a yellow off of your stator, that is supplying your headlight. If that is the case we need to do some multimeter testing off of the yellow. Your battery really won't affect the brightness of the lights unless you have a DC powered bike. Then, everything runs off of the battery. I'm not sure what your bike is but I suspect it has an AC powered headlight which is affected by the stator and R/R. We need to know your wire colors off of the stator and what is your bike and it's cc's. I wouldn't order a stator until we sort this out, that is usually the last thing that is malfunctioning. Rich

Error 32 means Gman is trying to post. It is a code specific for you Andy. Out of the millions of people on Proboards you are the only one with your own error code. I will swing the chicken and alert the Jackknife.
Oh JAAAAAACCCKKK!!!

Yeah, he says he has a ground wire. Test the red/black from the stator and see what kind of voltage you get off of it. Set the multi for AC and put one probe in the wire connector. Ground the other probe and tell us what you get.

Your starter mechanism is working fine. That sounds like no spark to me. Did you hold the plug electrode against the valve cover while cranking on the jump? Check for spark with a decent battery hooked up.
