Yeah, it is unfortunate, and from what I understand, it is very common on this scooter. Apparently it's a design flaw, but the trike is out of warranty, so if I have to get the OEM, I might consider taking it to a metal shop and seeing if the weld can be reinforced. It attaches in multiple places, but given the fact that the the engine unit is on a separate suspension (two wheels) and the front/top part both leans and goes up and down with a shock absorber, the twisting action more than likely contributes to the failure of the weld. Design flaw... I'll take a picture of the entire exhaust unit next time I am in the garage and post it. Thanks for the help.

Man, it is a BLAST to ride, and wherever I go, people ask, "What is that thing?" People take pictures while I am riding it, or at the gas station, grocery store parking lot, etc. Right now, though, it is down for a repair. Although it has under 1000 miles on it, the muffler weld gave way were the engine pipe meets the actual muffler, so I need to replace the whole thing. The heat from the crack melted the wiring harness, but I'm pretty good with vehicle electrics, and I rewired the whole thing already. Only be about a week, then I'll be back out there.
I've been riding motorcycles since Methusela was wearing short pants, and my kids have been around bikes their whole lives. My daughter has the scooter for now, my son rides a Honda CB600F2 and my wife has a MC endorsement and we're gonna be getting her a scooter, too. I've got Parkinson's and Diabetes, so I cannot hold up a bike any longer, and full sized trike was out of my budget. I saw this, and knew immediately it was something I can handle, particularly being a trike. The fact that it leans on turns is a bonus!
