Ya I can't get that plug out, I used a small, very pointy, shape knife and no go. Thanks. So richer is what I want? Does that mean, makes it idles faster? I don't understand rich vs lean Do I do this ( get into the diaphram ) w the scooter shut off then start it up and see if it sounds different after I'm done? If it sounds faster do I then go to step 2 with the idle screw?

Thanks. Interesting. Ya I was thinking it was a cap too but it seems like its just nothing. LOL. Is it possible that the scooter comes w/ out one or do you think they def just blocked it off? I'm going to see if I can go mess w/ it. I don't have a drill

Ok I'm finally adjusting the carb, a day or two after I adjusted the valves but I have only driven it a a few times since for a few min. So... I open the scooter back up. I know you do the Air/Fuel adjustment ratio first but I don't see it. I found the idle speed screw no problem from this diagram: and mine looks like: But the side where my air/fuel ratio adjustment is: as seen here: looks like this on mine: Its just like blank ( no screw to turn) Could it be possible that my cheap little scooter just doesn't have one and all I have to work with is the idle speed screw? Thanks.

Perfect! Got it! Thanks. I started my scooter this morning and went for a ride and all is well but I am going to adjust the carb today or tomorrow, I don't want to put it off any longer. Every since I bought my scooter and still when I start it, it sounds like this when its warming up: Almost like an old car sounds when it has a loose belt perhaps or maybe you could call it a " chirping " of some sort? Its kind of hard to hear but you can hear it a little better in the first half of the video I took an hour ago. I don't know if it means anything or its just a little noisy since its a cheap scooter, but my other scooter ( same make / model ) just a year older, never made this noise. (I'm so glad I painted the exhaust and pipe w/ black high temp engine paint to ward of rust since w/ my first scooter that thing rusted in a week! Too bad I couldn't paint the bolts )

I re-read your post and I totally understand how you explained the fuel ration screw, but... for: What do you mean by " set idle using idle speed screw " am I turning this clockwise or counter clockwise and how much? What am I listening for here? It says I'm guessing this means turn the throttle a tiny tiny tiny bit where its idling faster but not enough to move the bike? Then what? (Thanks)

Are you saying every time you fill your gas? And do you put it in before or after filling your gas (it never said this on the bottle either) and I'm not sure if it matters Cool. I was reading a little something about leaner vs richer today. Its 75-95 year round here and we get maybe 7 days a year where the temp drops down to 35-55 in the winter, but its really random and strange when it happens. So I guess I should just keep it on the leaner side? Great info thanks! Where is the fuel ratio screw and where is the idle speed screw, and how will I know when its set to 1500-1800? are there #s on it? So when I end up needing to clean it, I really only need to clean the bowl, jets and jet passages? Not take every damn little piece out and clean it? LOL I saw in a video a guy hand this teenie tiny little brush to clean a passage, he used it and then he used compressed air to blow it out. Are either of these necessary? Can I remove the carb bowl and the jets w/ out having to take the whole carb out of the scooter? Wishful thinking I know Thanks for your help!! <3

I believe you bet right alleyoop! Either the Sea Foam I put in the gas tank helped make things good again or loosening up the valve. Could a valve be too tight but not give me crap for the first 2 weeks then all of a sudden give me crap? The valve on the top was too tight, the bottom one seemed just right. I did .002 on top and the bottom fit at .003 already. I looked at 2 vids for valve adjustment & was like ohhhhhh the feeler gauge is supposed to slide ALL the way behind it, not half way then an abrupt stop. I then realized it was too tight. It was kind of weird that the thing u crank to line up the holes on the side wouldn't let me crank it all the way around, (in the vid it looked like it could be cranked all the way around) It only let me go a half circle in each direction but enough where the big hole was out, just not 100% perpendicular to the frame. It wouldn't move when I tried to turn it a little more w my hand, so it seemed good. I put it all back together and I think the hardest part of the day was getting the faring under the seat to line up with the frame when putting the seat back on. What a pain. I put the seat on w/ out the screws, but had it all lined up. Started it up. It started right away, and idled very happily and faster than normal for about 7 seconds, then slower for about 5 seconds, then even slower for about 5 seconds and I was smelling a little gas. I said okay maybe it just needs to get the juices flowing. I gave it a tiny tiny tiny amount of gas and let it idle with a tiny amount of gas for a minute, then took off the gas totally and it didn't seem like it wanted to idle slower or stop so I slowly accelerated and it let me pull away, I drove it very slow, about 2mph, then 5mph, it gave me a tiny bit of hesitation but I just babied it, drove it one block at about 7mph, then slowly kept increasing it, stopped for a stop sign and it still didn't seem like it wanted to idle slower or stop,it seemed to idle normal. I finished up the block at about 15 mph, things seemed fine so I drove it 2 blocks at 20 mph (what I usually drive it at) and also got it up to 25mph for about a block ( I never really go faster than that on the beach because people here drive like they just ate sheet of LSD ) Things seemed normal again. Hopefully they will continue to be normal. I parked it, screwed the seat back on tight, covered it and I'm all up to date on the maintenance that I need to be up to date on other than cleaning the carb. After seeing vids for how to take it out and take it apart, clean it, put it back together and then reinstall it, I'm going to be honest, I'm s**ting my pants. It looks wiked scary. My manual says to clean it at 300km (186 miles) then again every 3000km (1,864 miles) Also there is a guy in some video that has this tiny tiny little thing that almost looks like a micro pipe cleaner to clean out one of the parts for the carb and I have no idea where to get it. The auto parts store didn't have one. Any ideas? Sigh.. do I really need to take it apart already? Why so soon? Is it like how you have to change the oil so soon, to clean out the gunk that can happen from it being broken in? I can't just put sea foam in the gas for now? It, it says it cleans the jets. ;D ;D ;D I mean I will if you think I really should, I'm just not sure why I have to do all that already. What do you guys think of Sea Foam in the gas tank? It didn't say how often I should use it on the bottle... just 1oz per gallon of gas so that's what I put in. Any ideas? Thanks a million for your help everyone. It means a lot that you took the time to help me w/ all this. PLEASE message me w/ any questions if I can return the favor w my personal training / nutrition knowledge One more thing, when I first start it, it sounds kinda like the old station wagon my grandfather had when I was a kid. Like not a super healthy sound while its warming up. I'm going to film it when I first start it tomorrow and upload it and maybe you can tell me what you think of the sound. It has been making it since the day I bought it. Maybe its normal, but the scooter I had before this one never made the same noise, so I don't know

Thanks Mthomas & sprocket, I got the spark back in. Im good about not over tightening anything... well... when it comes to screws and bolts on my scooter ;D Leave an inch below the filler bar on the gas, gotcha. Gotcha sprocket, ya I could drive it after the gas station. I have the cover to the valves off and my new little feeler guage out so I'm about to check those. Maybe between those being adjusted and the sea foam in my gas now things MAY work. Crosses fingers... If it does, all that is left to do is clean the carb but that can DEF be left for another day. Fewwww today was ENOUGH for me

It's okay 99% of my friends are male, my grandfather raised me, I like to fix things on my own, do construction, etc.. I have the sense of humor of a guy (dirty) So I got the spark plug out. It was way easier than I thought it would be for the location it ended up being in. Did slice my wrist open on some plastic but no big deal, cute little battle wound. It seems like its okay ( not " faulted " ) Its dark brown on the top, no oil on it, pretty clean. The little thing in the middle of the top is like white but tinted brown. I'm supposed to check it at 186 miles but I don't know what I'm checking for? For it looking like its in bad shape basically? I am comparing it to a spark that was on my old scooter and it doesn't look as bad, the gap seems a little more open than the gap on the old one where it looked like it was caving in a little due to age. I'm guessing I can just toss this spark back in and check it again when I'm due to again? I have 4 on order

I hope so, they just seem like super cheap material ( the screws / bolts ) and I'm being really careful
