Not sure if the gas was bad or not but the carb was set incorrectly... Fixed both and is running great now. Maybe the idle is a bit fast but will look into it at a later date. Thanks to everyone that helped me get this thing back in the road

I understand the safety issue. Operationally, then, no problem?

What would happen if I remove this vacuum petcock until I recieved the new one? Will this cause an issue on these small engines? I had a manual petcock on a 1000cc 1978 honda which I would routinely leave open. I would forget to close....never had a problem. That bike had a fuel pump though.....

Hey guys,
Have a Bashan 50cc. Had carburetor problems, solved that. Had issues come up to a valve adjustment. The exhaust valve was at .002. Adjusted to 004. 8 months later...... Carb is new. Filter is new. Bike starts runs for a second and dies. I feel like its a fuel issue. Even if it were to run off of the fuel in the bowl it would run longer than it did. In any case the valve would be loose and cause clatter. Could the fuel go bad in 8 months? I'm going to drain the tank and bowl and fill with fresh fuel. What other options do i have?

Hey guys, is been a while. Finally got everything taken apart and was able to check the adjustment. The top valve has a .003 clearance and the bottom .002. Should I change it?

Back to the drawing board. Ran great....it definitely had a bad fuel shutoff valve. Connected the carb directly to the tank with an in line filter. Was running great. After idling and ruding for a while it died at the stop sign. It would not start again. It must be the valves. Going in there tomorrow, going to file the PDI items that I have not completed. I'm going to take it from there.
How bad is it not to have a shut off valve? I would forget to close it in my old gold wing for days....never an issue. I forget my wife will probably forget that's why I'm going to replace it with a vacuum one again. Please advise

Tried again today. Before it started I removed the vacum line to the fuel shutoff and suctioned on it. No fuel vapor or fuel. I could see tge fuel bubbling into the filter. Replaced the hose gave it a couple of blips on the throttle and it started right up. Idle was really high. I let it warm up and it settled down. I preceded to adjust the mixture. It was rich. When turning clockwise the idle rose. Stopped when there was no change. Backed off a bit. Ran great with no bog. Letvtge bike cool and restarted. Ran great again. Going back late at night to see if the cold changes anything. I think it was starving for fuel. Maybe the vacum fuel shut off was stuck? I'm going to order a new one anyway. I don't like the way the fuel lines are routed.
Let's see how it goes later tonight

Well now after warm up it only runs for a moment if i touch the throttle it dies. You crank it starts runs for awhile and again dies. Closed the mixture needle alk the way in. Backed off 2.5 turns so it should be a good mixture i think. Starts and dies. At this point in thinking valves maybe?

Well not a valve problem. Once its running it stays running no mater whst you do. I got to keep working on the carb. Last night i would have to restrict airflow for it to start.
Clearing up...
4 stroke 18mm carb, 49cc
Clockwise leans the mix
Counter Clockwise richens it.
If it does not stay running out fits not start cold but it does start when I cover the intake, its lean. Turn counter clockwise to richen the mixture until it runs on 1/4 turns then back 1/8th of a turn?
It runs perfect during the day only on cold nights or mornings did it give me an issue.

Could this run fine and then bog down, let it sit, start again run great, then bog down again be a valve leash issue? This bike has less than 200 miles. Just wondering if these symptoms could be caused by different issues. It just seems to run great for awhile shut it down, come back to it and it starts with the bogging down issue. It's driving me crazy
