Thanks for the response, will go with the replacement flywheel. I was just wondering if these are known to break like this and not part of a bigger problem. Can I just pull that base off with a puller? Can it be welded? Again thanks for the response.

I have a 50cc 1980 Yamaha yamahopper. This moped sat for a good 15+yrs, I cleaned everything tank, carb petcock, replaced all fluids etc. I got the thing to start, but sounded like crap. I was getting spark intermittently, sometimes spark sometimes not and just couldn't get the carb dialed in when it did run. Stopped running all together. I took the fly wheel cover and discovered the wheel part was sheared off the shaft. I dont know what caused this as the shaft itself turns true and strait. I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of this before? Never really worked on a moped before so p!ease bear with me. Is this a matter of just replacing the part or could this possibly be welded? Some pics.
