first off try a paper clip into the wires that are hooked to the brake switch to see if the switch is bad then pull the seat box out and ground the selanoid to see if it starts then start at battery with an ohm metter and look for current on the selanoid thats where i would start out at

wd 40 works good to spray the wires and cannections with it stands 4 water deterrent 40 different uses try that

ya its the starter gear hitting off the kick starter for sure idle way to high

check the valves again you may not have tightened up the retaining bolt tight enough

i did mine by moveing the cable around i had a 150 that i would open the seat by pulling on the cable from under the plastic on my 250 i zipped tied my cable to make the seat open easier some one aid on here you can move them up or down by adding or removeing shims from the bracket hope this helps you out
