It's been an all day process. An hour spent on just cleaning out all the grease in the variator. I did take off the bottom piece of plastic and removed the 2 bolts from the air filter. Removed all 11 bolts and tried to pull the CVT off. Impossible so with some help from the Doc I was finally able to break the seal and off it came.
Getting it back is another story. I can not get the fan cover on as the belt is not going back far enough. My hands are numb from trying to pull the clutch in enough so the belt will go down and give me the needed 1/2" to get the fan cover on.
With the belt over the clutch pulley there isn't any room to get my right hand on the pulley. I can only use my left hand and I am not strong enough apparently to pull it open. So it sits in the garage.

CCPROF, Yes, my experience went well with Superior Powersports. So far 600 miles and not a problem with it. It's great when you can call them up and they go out of their way to make sure they give you the right information.
We will see if Axplayer is just as pleased as I was. Time will tell.

Axplayer, if they tell you the day it's going to ship that will be the day. Today you should receive a tracking number and can follow your scooter to your home. Mine came by FedEx and in one piece. You won't need to change the oil right away as they did put new oil in my scoot (you can tell by the tan color it wasn't from China). Also the plug is an NKG so you are fine with the plug which comes with it. Get your tools out and make sure everything is tight. I had no loose bolts or nuts. I did change the antifreeze and followed the Doc's instructions. You may need to burp it several times to get all the air out of the system. Change the gear oil, change out the fuel and vacuum lines and change the fuel filter. So far I have 600 miles on it and it runs great. Your title is inside the scooter. Either under the seat, in the trunk or if you received a free helmet look in the box. You will have a clean title made out to you. It was a piece of cake getting insurance and getting it registered at DMV.

Thanks Furbar, I thought about drilling that hole but wasn't sure the bottom piece of plastic still had to be removed.
Did you encounter any problems removing the CVT cover without removing bottom plastic? If not its a great time saver.
Yes, I have stock 14g rollers in it now.

12g sliders arrived so now the fun starts. I count 4 screws holding the air filter on and I plan on removing the lower body plastic, which surounds the kickstand and runs to the front cover. Am I removing too much? I have a 17mm impact socket but if I need a different size does anyone know the correct socket?
I'm hoping the 12g sliders give me a quicker zero to 50. I plan on cleaning out any grease inside variator and slighty greese plastic clips correct?

Thanks, once I get the CVT cover off I can loosen those screws. 17 MM socket to remove variator nut?

Reply #4 Doc I am talking about the black plastic piece which is attached to the CVT cover? Not the cover for the air filter. There are two screws one is seated through a hole in the cover and the other is just below it to the right.
Reply #3 Yes, I have an impact wrench and have used a 17mm socket to remove both the variator bolt and clutch bolt. Was wondering if I use the same size socket.

Thanks fubar05. If it has to come off I'm in for a project. I have already removed the bottom plastic and all the screws holding it on, so I should then be able to remove the CVT cover. Also going from 14 gram standard rollers to 12 gram sliders. No hills where I live so I hope this is the right choice for me to make. Is the bolt on the variator 17mm as it is on the GY6?

I have Dr Pulley sliders ordered 8 of the 20x12 12 gram sliders. On the CVT cover is a black plastic air intake piece. Does that have to be removed in order to remove the CVT cover? The reason I ask is that there are two screws in it which have to be cemented in. In other words they don't move at all. Dewalt driver has not enough power to remove them.
Hercules must have put this scoot together, because there is not a nut, bolt or screw which isn't extremely tight.

OK, I heard time and time again to make sure you change your cheap value stems. Do I replace my China stems with new China stems? How does one know who makes the value stems in the first place?

Without fail, everyday someone tries to run me over when I'm out on my scooter. 99% of my riding is during daylight hours. I can see your point which is why I decided to dress up my scoot and add lights everyone behind me can see. I went to Custom Dynamics and purchased the Knight Rider LED License plate bracket. Alley you are right about synthetic oil. I've put over 5,000 miles on my 150 and not once did I have to add any oil or did it leak a drop of oil. I think those you use it and say it leaks out are having problems to begin with. Being cheap with using oil is the worst thing you can do to your scoot. High heat and high RPMS will break down most regular oils.

What everyone has been saying is true. The class will help a lot. No one has mentioned however counter steering on a scooter. If you do a search on google you'll find videos and articles on counter steering. There are several different methods you can use but I use what I think is the easiest. If I want to turn right I push the right handle grip forward and just hold the left handle bar grip.
What happens is the scooters front wheel actually turns left making the scooter lean to the right and the bike turns right. Just the opposite for turning left. Counter steering usually works when you reach about 10 MPH but the scooter will turn right when you push the right handle grip forward and it will turn left when you push the left handle grip forward.
I would say you are right handed and when you want to make that left turn you are pushing forward with your right hand which will make the scoot go right and if you are fighting it the scoot goes straight.
