This question is only for the 250 cc owners. How many of you use the interstates and have you felt safe driving on them?

Why couldnt you get it on? Like mentioned before the chrome intake is at a different angle and when I connected my carb it moved the carb back making the UNI and the starter motor in conflict of each other.

Jake, I purchased the CVT cover from Parts for Scooters. www.partsforscooters.com/169-41?sc=11&category=74091 The chrome on it really shines. I was worried it would be a piece of junk, but it's well made has 3 vents over the variator and as you can see the clutch is fully vented.

Question, why are you messing with the Needle? Is it running Lean in Mid-Range? How does it act in Mid-Range or starting off when giving it throttle. Alleyoop Alley if your question was meant for me the answer is I have no need to change the needle position. I have full power from start to WOT with no drop off at all. I only asked why the two carbs I have came without clips on the needle. It has been running better since I put in a 125 main jet and that seems to kick in at about 6000 RPM's. My A/F screw is now set at 1.5 turns open down from 2.5. Does it run lean you asked. Well if I use the spark plug as a guide the answer is no. The plug has a nice brown color to it, it was black until I turned down the A/F to 1.5.

Dr J I will give it a try with my old carb. Don't want to break anything in the new carb. Now the question is with the use of #4 washers what will it actually do? Am I moving the invisible clip up or down by adding washers?
Thanks Speedracer

Bashan, When you put on the new chrome manifold let me know if you can still get the UNI filter on. I could not and went back to the old manifold.

I've got your standard 1P57QMJ and I' about to redo it. I want to know recommendations on which unifilter to get and which jets I should get that I'll probably need to experiment with, I don't mind ordering a few jets at a time if necessary. Rich I changed to the UNI and added a 40 pilot jet and a 125 main jet. So far this combo has worked well. My scoot came with a 103 main jet, which I changed to a 110 then 112 and now 125. It runs great and has plenty of kick to it.

Hey Speed, I'm installing a chrome manifold, Uni filter, and new jets on my Bashan (Peace, whatever) and I bought all three jets that Scrappy Dog offers: 115, 125, and "The Guzzler" 135. I talked to Rick Main when I ordered and he said I would probably have to tweak the A/F screw and needle clip to get the most out of the new jet. He said that would I need to start by moving the clip down one notch which would open the jet more, I guess to balance the increased flow by kicking in earlier. Maybe that's why you're not getting what you want at that speed. Just a thought, Rich I have two carbs and neither one has any clips on them to adjust. Once the long spring is removed and diaphragm all I have is one long needle with no clips to move up or down. Am I the only one who doesn't have clips on the carb needle?

speedracer No, that's not stock.. If it's running good, I don't understand what the problem is... Wildman, I never stated I had any problem. I was only trying to answer the subject question. It just so happens that the two Iridium NGK plugs I purchased have a gap of .026. If NGK makes an Iridium plug with a larger gap I wish they would advertise it.

Forgot to mention I added a no rev limit CDI and a HP coil. You can all tell me if I am running stock... Thanks Speed Racer

OK, my NGK Iridium plug did come with a .026 gap setting as it did with the previous Iridium plug it is replacing. As far as a stock scooter goes I'm not sure what constitutes stock. UNI air filter,40 pilot jet and now a 125 main jet, Mikuni fuel filter, all new hoses, vacuum and fuel. Totally new variator, sliders, and clutch including contra spring. Hmmm and of course the Iridium plug. I have fooled around with the NGK C7HSA plug and set it at .032 and have found no difference between the two plugs.
With the changes I have made I went from a scooter which ran like crap to a scooter which starts, never stalls, doesn't bog down at all, gets good fuel mileage, and keeps up with traffic.
