Denise, you are quite correct in comment concerning scooters in this country. Scooters and motorcycles are considered recreational vehicles by the general public her but are a major means of transportation in other parts of the world. I doubt that, barring extremely high fuel prices(a definate possibility) or a worsening economic picture here that the public attitude will change.

MonsterGY6 does some serious Ruckus conversions and modifications. From time to time I have some of their work offered on the local Craigslist and have been tempted!!!!! My dealer says they are good folks and do outstanding Ruckus mods. Good of them to make the 10% discount offer.

The distributors are really hurting in this economic down turn( politically correct way to say depression) My local dealer tells me that he gets calls all the time from distributors asking for him to take on their lines. Since he is a small dealer and well connected with one company he has to decline. The sales are just not there. However, if gas prices start going up hopefully so will demand. I know that my little business is taking a hit but we can weather the storm. And things have always slowed down the closer we get to major elections. We might see a slight upturn after 11/2 but it will in my opinion, be a weak one. We are looking at at least 2 more years before things improve.

Fubar, I understand the wrenching comment!!! I have been fortunate in that with the exception of the Ice Bear 150-8 I have had to do very little wrenching on the rest of the stable. I have always wanted a Honda Rebel but need the auto tranny of a scoot. When you get back fill us in on the performance of the Rebel.

Personally the last thing I want is something of this sort distracting me as I ride. Now a CB that allows communication between riders and/or can keep you apprised of traffic conditions is a different matter. Just my opinion however and I am sure that there are others on the forum can advise you and answer your question.

Final Gears

Thanks, Alley Oop, for clearing that up. As it is I use the IB150-9 for mail box runs and it should last a long time or until I part it out, which ever comes first. I am still working on getting a trike that is dependable, saving my bucks right now towards that goal. I envy you your burgy trike!!!!!! My TGB 150 Del. has spoiled me. 1000 miles in 7 months without a burp!! It had 5500 on it when I got it and now has 6500. That is the sort of service that I, as a non wrencher, am looking for. Sooner or later I will find the right trike. (That Burgy is awsome!! Such a deal you got!!!!)

Final Gears

Interesting that this subject has come up. I ordered what I thought would be a transmission from Rapid Jim ( he thought that was what we had ordered too) for my Ice Bear 150-8. I assumed that it would be a complete housing. What Ice Bear shipped was a collection of the gears, no bearings, no housing , thrown loose in a box. This was what we had come to expect from Ice Bear but should not be construed as a criticism of Jim who handled his part of the transaction quickly and professionally. I had already planned to offer the gears for sale so if any one needs them please contact me.

The crotch rocket boys smear up the express ways in Atlanta weekly darting in and out of the rush hour traffic. On our Tail of the Dragon ride they were doing knee slides on the extreme curves. During the summer months the Tn. Hwy Patrol quits covering the road at 7:00 in the evening and the death toll rises because that is when the crotch rocket boys try to set speed records. Stupid is as stupid does!!

Happy Birthday, Luke. Remember, old age is just a state of mind. You can be old at 40 or young at 74. The choice is yours. And never retire!! retired people die quicker than you might think. Nothing more deadly than nothing to do!

I must have 6 helmets that I can not use so my favorite is a Bell half helmet with a face guard. I have a cochlear implant and all the others will not fit over it but knock it loose. The Bell works because I cut away the padding in the location that the devise attaches to my thick skull. Not the best answer in the world but it works for me. I like Bashans choice of helmet.

Sorry, Larry, but at least you were not speeding when it happened. You can paint the plastic and be riding in no time. You will heal quickly being a youngster. I have dropped my Tank twice and my TGB Del. 150 once, all three in the front drive. Not fun!!! Glad you were wearing your safety outfit. I wear a half helmet(cant get anything else over my cochlear implant) Steel Toed Brahma lace up boots, heavy canvas pants, either Carhardt or duckies, gloves and either leather or Fieldshear jackets depending on the weather. I am 74 and intend to get a lot older if possiblle. My pet peeve: see this all the time in my area. Bikers and scooter riders with helmets, tank tops, shorts, and sneakers. The only reason they wear helmets is because it is the law. So, hang tough, get well, and get back on the scoot!!
