RICH you can tell the guys at the shop that this is the guy with the Orange 260 and they will know who I am.
My bike was over at the shop getting some work done... I had a worn needle guide in my carb which was causing the needle to keep jumping out and making the bike run strange on top that I had a bad fuel pump and on top that I had a leek in my vacuum line.
Hope they don't mine me coming back in the future
grrrr

well, it seems to be working so far the fan runs nice and the fins are slightly worm to the touch so I am guessing it displacing heat. I will use something else to tie the fan down and two of the same screws thats just all i had at the time. :`( Thanks to everyone for looking at my pic Also the fan draws so little power that I hooked it up to the fuel gage light on the dash so that the fan turns on only when the bike is started.

well I just put this on today so I have not had time to drive it yet but the fan works I just hooked it up to the dash. My last CDI would keep cutting off causeing no spark when It would get hot so I just put this on to keep it cool I am not to sure if other people have this problem with a cdi but I dont feel like spending $65 more on a new one so I just stuck this on for fun

I took an old Pentium 3 heat sink and a really old Pentium1 fan from a really old CPU and came up with this with some thermal paste. Attachments:

make sure your spark boot and spark wire are firm on the coil

spark issue

so the spark plug boot is firm on the wire and also twisted firm at the coil correct? you should make sure and may have to take it off to be sure.
1st. Make sure you have oil at the correct levels because mine will act slugish when the oil is low. 2nd. it could be your CDI from what your telling me mine just went bad and acted like your bike, so to test this start the bike and hold a blow dryer on the CDI which is probley under ware your sheild is and above the head lights. If you hold it on there for a short time mabe 30s to 45s not to long because you dont want to cook the thing. If the bike kills while its running its the cdi and its not allowing it to start when it gets worm.
i dont think its your stator or regulator
I would adjust your carb while your at it though i dont think thats the problem but it would help you because there set lean from the factory.

start over explain this again but a little slower this time.
did you check that the spark plug boot was on firm did you check to make sure the connections to the coil are on firm hook a volt meter to the bike if you can get it started and let me know what it says.
if the bike starts after being off for a while let me know that also.

thanks guys... do yall still have any ideas about why I was not getting any spark out of my coil then when I got home it worked? I used a small wire to ground from the boot to look for a spark and there was none before I was towed home... gezz regulator cdi or stator?
