You may have a bad fuel shut off valve. If the diaphragm in it has a hole you don't get fuel to the carb bet fuel will come down the vacume hose. I will sputter but not run. You can test it by hooking up a clean hose to it and sucking GENTELY if you can't develop a vacume its shot. You can also just bypass the valve and plug the vacume hose and see if it runs.

I have some pictures of the 150 conversion in the 250 section. I will be updating the three next week when I get the motor mounts welded in. Then I can get the cooling system done and put her back together again.

I'll try getting a picture with someone sitting on it soon. Its actually about stock. The front pivot on the seat is only about 2" back from where the front of the original seat mounted and the handlebars are completely stock. Most of the wiring will be in the frame tubes. Wherever the wire has to come out I will some kind of loom. I don't really like the standard plastic stuff. I looks kind of cheap to me.

Just a thought. I had a customer bring in a 150cc with a the same problem. Turned out they had taken the back wheel off to replace the tire and had forgotten to put the spacer back in. When they titened the axle nut it pulled the swing arm in too far and made the break drag.

Yea, it kills me to pay as much for a project as I can get a brand new 250 for. I did a little looking on Ebay and they seam to be bringing over 2 grand for anything needing restoration and 4+ grand for nice ones. I shouldn't need to do much fabricating on it as it looks like most parts are still available. The big thing is rust. If it has more then just surface rust I'm going to walk away.

Rich, thank you for the kind words. I'm looking forward to getting this thing done just to see how it all turns out in the end. Not to mention the other projects I need to get done. I think today I'm going to work on my 250 conversion. We may hit 50 next weak and I don't have a scoot to ride. Friday I may be adding anouther project. Will post a picture in a few.

Next challenge. He also brought 2 sets of air horns. I gave me one and wants the other set mounted on the scooter. I hooked up one set on my workbench and tested it with a battery. WOW I almost crap my pants! These things are really loud! If you look in the previous picture you can see the red compressor mounted under the seat. I have to make some brackets to mount the horns. Kind of a PITA but it will be fun when you hit the horn button and get HONK, HONK instead of beep, beep. Attachments:
