Very helpful! Thank you all. I really need to do this, because my rear brakes hardly can stop my bike now, and I get this inconsistent braking, and pretty much just locks up the front, and puts me into a skid. And that is not fun.

Hiya. My rear brakes are really mushy on my jonway, and I was wondering what the order of checking things is? Check the cable/electrical, then.. what? What steps do I need to take? Anyone got a tuorial on checking this, changing the brake pads, etc?
Thanks for any and all help -Jen

Lack of speed could be a number of things from valves needing adjusted to varitor wts. worn. The spedo cable or drive is probably broken. Is it the engine cover or side pannel? If it is the engine cover I would want one on as without the 2 halfs the engine won't get the proper air for cooling. A pdf manual will help you track down the speed issue. One thing on the speed I hvent seen in the manual is some bikes do a "soft seize" where one ring go's bad most folks I know that has that happen to put on 65-70cc piston and cylinder. but check the easy stuf first. Hope this gives you a start. Hodaka Bob County Line Cycles Grovertown, IN Yea, I'm probably going to take it in to get serviced, and have them chase down the gremlins. I have a new spark, new jets, new airfilter, and (hopefully) the right size engine cover coming. I'll probably take it into the local shop, and have them check the valves, rings, etc. That's just enough out of my comfort zone that I don't want to do it and F@ck something up.

Hi there, picked upa used 2008 Jonway sport rs for $200.
-It's missing the Engine cover on the right -The speed tops out at 21mph -The airbox is just hanging loose, not sure whats screws/bolts to use to get it on -The keys are all stripped out, not sure what key set to get. I have to use a screwdriver to start it. -Speedo doesn't work, but tach does. Cable or something else?
What should I do. I've downloaded the manual, and it's helpful, but I want to get the speed up. It idles fine, and it has a nice smooth and fast takeoff, but 21mph is just weak (gps tested.)
And the engine cover, I really think I need to get that replaced. Help! -Jen
