I got my bike with 1200 miles and now it has 3879 miles, and it is running the same NGK spark plug that I put in when I got it. I'm wondering if maybe the spark plug could be the reason that I have an engine sputter on takeoff. Should I just replace it for the heck of it?

I pulled everything off and cleaned it very well. The clutch was full of belt dust, everything was full of belt dust. After reassembly, my slipping clutch is no longer a problem

Looks to me some Variator Plastic Guides are missing should have 3 of them. Alleyoop They're all there, not to worry. Brake parts cleaner is O.K. to clean variator. Clutch & clutch shoes may need to be examined for wear. The variator fan in 2 parts sound broke - hard to tell from the photo. Check this link for a full cvt / transmission inspection video - hope it helps. CVT & TRANSMISSION INSPECTIONWell I'll have to pull the clutch off and see what's going on there..my variator fan has always been in two pieces for me, though. I see no broken adhesive, my fan just rests on top of the big metal gear.

So I just pulled my CVT apart for the first time to actually inspect it because my scooter is slipping at takeoff (sputter and tries to take off and then eventually goes crazy high revs and starts moving. The rollers look okay, and the belt looks good too. Some of the parts look charred black (such as the starter bendix) and lots of black dust fell out when I pulled the cover off. Also the variator was extremely hot when I pulled it off so it slipped out of my hand when I pulled it off sending roller weights everywhere. And is it safe to use brake cleaner on all these parts to clean them? And why is my variator fan split into two parts?!

Just use regular oil...I've put Meijer 10W-40 Conventional Motor Oil in my scooter since day one (except for one time when we had Castrol GTX on hand and I was too lazy to go to the store) and my scooter runs great. I change my oil every 500-800 miles and it's still running great. I literally just changed my oil an hour ago with the Meijer oil (I had 826 miles on it and was BLACK BLACK BLACK!!). By the way kiddies, don't overfill the container that has bad oil in it, you may end up with oil all over your driveway and what looks like the BP oil spill going everywhere!

Look closely Bashan. It's still Freeky. His face just got a tad bit elongated and stuffed in a hoodie....That I was wearing at some point.

He came and got the bike today. He took it for a test ride and he came back and said that he LOVED it. I hope it provides him with many more hours of enjoyment

Good ol' Jon referred a man to me that had a 150cc scooter that would bog when given too much throttle. So the guy brought it to me yesterday, and you should have seen the look on my face when this rolls up the driveway: Good lord, that's not a scooter! Or, well, maybe it is. A very big scooter. It even has a radio. So the owner says it runs, but unfortunately it doesn't even try to run, yikes! One valve adjustment and an extreme carb cleaner later, the bike runs! Hurray! Too bad the battery is bad and the battery ground broke off (I had to redo the battery ground cable). Either way, battery is shot on it so i can only kick it, but no biggie. So now it's bogging just like the owner said it was, like MAJOR bogging and stuttering. It sounded really bad! But wait...why is there a plume of smoke in my garage after I started the engine? WHY DO I SMELL BURNING STUFF? QUICK, TURN THE IGNITION OFF!! Oh dear, the custom exhaust pipe was touching the plastic engine shroud, YIKES. I ended up cutting a lot of the shroud away, because there is no way I'm bending metal! Okay, so now I checked the oil, and...it's low. Very very low, barely on the dipstick. I ended up changing the oil out. Okay, so now it's not smoking, and it's running, hurray. But now it's bogging still...but wait, I remembered something from when I took the carb apart: IS THAT A 140 MAIN JET? HOLY SMOKES BATMAN. I put a 108 main jet in it and now it runs like a dream. Repair complete!

While we are in that department how's about clicking on a pair of king sized extenders, they would make some swell handlebargrips. You know the ones with the veins molded in! Imagine explaining that to people at places you stop at. "Yes, those are veiny handlebar grips. It even pulls off the bike for auxiliary functions! What are you looking at? This is normal! Wait, why are you calling 911? 'Mam! Stop!" And then you speed away.

If I didn't know any better, there is probably a lot of jokes about the male anatomical part that we call the penis going on in here. Maybe.

Also, I wouldn't mind a Ninja 250 at all IF it wasn't carbureted. I don't know if I trust anything going 90MPH to have a carb. Too many bad clogs and things like that..the 300 has DFI (digital fuel injection)
