does the LED strip run directly from power you are going to tap into or does it have a LED driver/ballast which you will be making a harness for?

I do have a tested and many other tools.
what i have been saying is that there is no power coming to the solenoid connector but there is power coming to the brake sensors as the lights do work properly.
so anyways, i think just found the problem. i had an HID ballast grounded to the body of the scooter and i just read about the AC/DC power charging system on the bike. i unplugged the regulator and the bike starts right up with the start button. i plug it back and it does not start. i disconnected the HID ballast ground wire from the body and the bike start up with the start button. i am guessing it was a grounding problem. i will rewire the ground for the ballast directly to the battery tomorrow to see what happens. for now i ended up braking the key so i had to order a new lock/key set from ebay.

so wait a min, the start button does not have positive coming to it?? it is ground only for completing the circuit? im i understanding it correctly?? i got a new kill switch and replaced that but it did not change anything. there is also no power coming to any of the kill switch wires, are they all ground wires? i wonder if the CDI is bad or the regulator...not sure what they do on the bike...any info on this?

OK, thnx for the input guys. here is what is going on... with the key in the "on" position i put a screwdriver between the large connectors on the solenoid and the bike starts up. this is telling me that the solenoid is good.
i checked the smaller plug on the solenoid and there is no power coming to it at all. when i push the start button there is no power coming to the plug on the solenoid.
i moved onto the start button, when i turn the key on the "on" position, there is no power coming to the start button. the plug in the back with two wires is not getting any power.
this is the ignition plug. when the ignition is in OFF position there RED wire is active. when i turn the ignition to ON position the black wire becomes active with power. not sure if this is correct but i think it means the ignition is working...
so what else is there? there is one 20 amp fuse next to the battery but i dont see any others anywhere on the bike. what else could be wrong?

Hi everyone, happy to find this forum and all the great info within. I am in need of little help with my scooter. I have a 2008 shanghai shenke scooter 150cc with 5k miles on it. I got a few years back and it has been working great. I had it looked at over the years for regular services and it has served me without any issues (so far). last week i went to start it up but it did not start. the battery is good and everything works but it wont start with the start button. when i turn the key on the "on" position all the electronics light up. there is power coming to the horn, the brake light sensors and speedometer but there is no power coming to the start switch or the kill switch. when i bypass and give direct power to the starter, the scooter starts up. any help as to what i should check? there does not seem like much electronics on the bike, just a few replays. can you guys ID the parts marked in the pictures? not sure what this is... the one in the right i am guessing is the starter replay... some people have been saying i need to go buy a new one but i like to live within my means and dont want go spend money i dont have to when i can fix myself and ride a scooter that is still running good! so please dont criticize my scooters age and help me fix the problem.
