That is NOT a fix for a broken hinge, and that's one expensive box compared to others I see on ebay. It's BIGGER than the other ones, but it's 4 times the price.

I'm looking for ideas on how to fix the trunk lid that came as standard equipment on my Roketa MC-54-250B. The hinge broke on the silly thing the other day. The hinge is sort of an integral part of the box and has some raised parts that would have to be cut off to put a metal hinge on it. I tried putting it back together with JB Weld but it didn't hold.
I was just wondering if anyone else had come across this problem and if anyone found a solution using the original design or how you fixed it.

I took mine to work today and had a surprise trip to the south side of town. The temp was in the 90's and the fan stayed on A LOT. I drove 55-60MPH most of the way home and the engine temp was up around 160-180 the entire time. I figure if it wasn't charging well enough THIS would be the ultimate test.
Got home and cranked over just fine. Still showing 13.5 volts ALL THE TIME.
Does anyone think that if I moved the tap point of my volt meter from the front (currently tied in to what used to power "motorcycle sound" ) to the back near the R/R that I should get a higher reading than 13½ VDC?

it was 13½ volts fan on or fan off. 2000 RPM or 5000 RPM. The fan was running better, I could tell that for sure, but worried about the constant voltage.
Also felt of the regulator after the long ride and it was very hot.
I'm just concerned that I'm not getting what I ought to.

I went out for an hour's ride today. I was pleased with what I have done. The fan kicked on a few times and REALLY blew hard. I could feel it running for the first time in a long time. My volt meter read a constant 13½ volts. Drops back to 12 when you shut the engine off. It's not jumping about with revving the engine. It stayed at a consistent 13½VDC the entire time.
Should it go up when I rev the engine to 16ish? I can certainly tell the difference with the fan running that it's not going just off the battery. Perhaps I should run wires from my gauge to the wires coming right off the rectifier to get a more accurate reading?

I didn't know if anyone here lived in the KC area might wanna take a ride on July 24th. I have been organizing a ride with my regular group of people who usually have burgman's and such. The ride would start at the QT west of 35 at 291 where we met when we went to Jamesport. Along the route that I have drawn we will drive up some country roads and then past Motorcycle Closeouts store in Smithville. It's not much of a ride from QT to there, but I thought it'd be a good place to go if anyone was interested. From there we sneak up some back roads to Plattesburg and then on up to Cameron. The ride from Liberty to Cameron is approximately 57 miles. At Cameron we will eat at Ma & Pa's kettle restaurant that has some good "down home" food. The ride back to Liberty takes us down 69 and 33 back to our original starting point. It's approximately 43 miles making our entire journey about 100 miles. My goal here was to have a scenic leisurely drive on 55mph roads. It's gonna be late July and a little hot but I think it's a nice ride and will be a lot of fun. If there are any other stops you'd like to add to the ride please don't hesitate to make suggestions! I'm thinking about meeting at QT at 9:30am. Leaving Motorcycle Closeouts about 10:45ish then to Cameron by noon. Take an hour to eat then a nice leisurely ride back and be back to QT by 2:30-3pm. Here is a Link to the map of the ride. If anyone is interested, please leave a message on the KC ride board: HERE

I finally got my new stator and installed it this morning. Now I'm getting 30VAC at idle. The people at partsforchinesescooters.com exchanged the wrong stator with a 20% restocking fee on the old one. All in all it is still cheaper that Roketa.com would have been.
I noticed that my regulator was very hot after only a few minutes of run time too. I had never noticed this before. I'm very interested in this new magic regulator cause I'm betting the one I bought wont last long.
In any event, I'm all up and running again, thanks in part to the helpful people in this forum. I don't know what I'd do without you guys.

I have an almost identical machine. I put 12g sliders in it and it helps on the bottom end quite a bit. Picks up a lot faster. Stock are 14g rollers.

Well *I* have bad news, at least as far as I'm concerned. On the other forum there is a "MC-54/MC54B Parts Cross Reference List" and on page 4 Big Guy points to a stator on partsforchinesescooter.com that is supposedly for the 54B scooter. I can't fault Big Guy because even the site says it's for the linhai engine. The problem is that the thing is quite a bit smaller than the old one. Old shaft size is 41.5mm and the new one only has a shaft size of 35mm. Old one has an overall size of 104mm and new one only has 93.5mm. I found one on ebay that says it's physically about the same size but it only has 4 wires coming out of it where my old one has 5. I didn't want to crack my engine until I had parts to fix it with and now I don't want to put it back together with bad parts. The old stator has burned coils so I'm sure that's my trouble. What should I do?

Well now yesterday I received my new regulator. Today I received my new stator and I'm certain that the new gasket will take 3 months on back order to get because that's Murphy's law. LOL Stator was a little smaller than I thought it would be though. Never having had the thing out I just thought it would be a little bigger. Whenever I get that new gasket I will break it all down and get it fixed and charging again hopefully.

Well if it influences ANYONE at all, I'll be at this year's STO rally. Loved it last year even though it rained most of the time. Great people, great fun. Hope to see you there!

Yes. I ordered it first, but I wasn't getting enough voltage out of the stator and after looking in the manual it doesn't look that complicated to replace so I figured I'd just do it.
Still wondering where to get the gasket.

I went ahead and ordered a new stator. Big Guy had one listed in the 250B cross reference section for $49.
Other than going to Roketa, where else can I get the gasket required for that side of the engine?

zugzug: Thanks, but I believe that is the wrong one for my scoot. Mine has 5 wires: 3 yellow 1 green and one blue. The latter two go to the CDI and the three yellows go to the regulator/rectifier. Thanks for the site link though. I'll add it to my list.
