So my speedo on my 50cc taotao says I'm doing 35-40 but it felt a lot slower. the GPS speedo app I downloaded says I'm only actually doing 25mph.. So the two questions are why is the speedo wrong, and why am I only getting 25 mph out of it?

So here is the before and after shots of my scoot, it's a 2012 taotao 50cc. I bought it for 150 not running. I changed the motor and gear oil put a new carb on it new fuel lines and filter. She runs great. I painted the wheels red and used road marker paint (the stuff they do side walks with) to do the white walls. Not a bad little scoot! I have less than 200 total in it. Everything works! It's like a cheap buddy black jack! Before after

So I got my new carb ordered. I got a real kei hin, which is supposedly better. those are the carbs I had on my little cb360 cafe racer. its probably exactly the same as the rest of the chinese carbs, but hopefully this one works. Is there any chance its an electrical issue? cdi or coil.. timing?

Haha maybe. It looked mostly stock but I suppose its possible he tried to supe it up. It has a stock air box and muffler. We will see what the new carb does

The bike is used, the carb looks like it was messed with before I got it because the pilot jet screw driver slot was a little mangled. Ill order a new carb and see what happens

Ok, so I made sure everything was clean, same problem. Also decided to try an experiment. The idle does not change at all no matter how many turns clockwise or counter clockwise. The idle still bounces with the fuel ratio screw all the way in and out. I have done it slow and fast. I think it's new carb time. It's only like 30 bucks. Is there one out there that is recommended?

When I cleaned my carb I had not yet removed that plug, so that wouldn't be possible

I adjust it when it's running and waited ten seconds. I took the top of the carb off and removed the diaphragm when I cleaned the carb but put it back in and made sure the notches lined up, the diaphragm looked to be perfect

I sprayed some starting fluid around the intake manifold, it didn't seem to change anything, all my lines appear to be good.. I don't think it's a vacuum leak
