Just a couple of quick pictures of the Aprilla, Side and Front. <a href="http://s948.photobucket.com/user/djlevitate34/media/SIDE2.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/ad321/djlevitate34/SIDE2.png" border="0" alt=" photo SIDE2.png"/></a>
I love how smooth this scooter is. The bigger wheel base, and better suspension really shine through. It can handle some bigger bumps, as well as washboards, a road I know by my house has waves in the concrete, and the shocks on this thing made them feel smooth!
ALSO, ALLEY, with the Valve set at .005 for intake and exhaust, the scooter starts RIDICULOUSLY EASY. Literally ONE kick, or HALF a push on the starter button.
All in All it is great little scooter. Unfortunatly I have only been able to get it up to about 35mph, where my QMB139 50cc(Wildfire), and Vento Triton 50cc will get my big a$$ up to about 42. I'm not sure if its an air problem, carb, or carb tuning problem, BUT it feels like it should have just a few more RPM... I used a different air filter than the stock one, it is a stock filter off of a 50cc, and it ALMOST looks identical, but I know that USUALLY if I feel like I am gettin TO MUCH AIR, I can take the carb needle down a notch to richen it, and it gets a LITTLE bit better TOP END, with a LONGER accel.

THANKS for the advice Alley! This cam gear is a Little different, it has a 1/4inch notch in the TOP piece of the Cam Shaft Mount. I FINALLY noticed it AFTER I pointed both of the Lobes down! haha OF COURSE!
I got it to TDC and set the valves to .005 for both the intake and exhaust. I had a quick question about that also. I know I have heard you say .003, do you know the pros of having the gap bigger vs smaller? I guess I am asking, since the Intake valve is opening Wider, does this take in MORE Oxygen, for bigger bang? Or is it TO WIDE, causing a timing issue?
THANKS ALLEY!

Hey guys, I am Adjusting the Valves right now, and I am not sure how to find TDC, I can see two bumps or notchs, but nothing on the case to line up with??? I have the shroud ALMOST removed, I didnt wanna have to take it all back apart, so I have it 50% visible, but I don't see any place to line up with, short from taking the spark plug out and looking at the piston...
THANKS GUYS!

The washer on the Variator Shaft, the one that keeps the belt from moving all the way over.
IS IT Necessary? To keep the engine from rev'ing to high?? Or just safety precaution?
Thanks Guys, I have a scoot with one, and one with out and theres quite a difference in speed, I am NOT SURE that it is due to no washer or just that the faster scooter WITH OUT THE washer, has better compression and is an all around better scooter...

If it they work while its running, it very well could be a short in the wire, since your pushing more power through it, it could make connection... Something to think about... Something else to check would be, did the new GY6 motor you swapped to have a LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH, so you can turn your daytime and ALL lights except brake light, turn signals OFF. I have a couple scoots with and with out it. And I have had them have corrosion in them and do things like your describing as well.

Could be the power wire going to both your headlight and tail light... Does your brake light work? Are they getting a good ground? Meter test all the power going to the lights, then on the center stand, and a friend to help, test with open throttle since they work going down the road... since your battery is getting 14volts to it while running, I doubt its your stator/magneto or R/R...

Thanks alot mark, Tracking says the 15th, I hope so!
Got the Carb on the Aprilla tuned, it will do a cool 35-38mph(I'm 200lbs!) with a .79 main jet... Tuned to run a Little rich... Gonna go ahead a check the valves again, prolly go .004-.005 I know alot of guys that say .003 but I've had a little better Top End with .004-.005 dont know why...
The owner has also requested a new battery, so I'll be picking that up tomorrow too, the stock one isnt BAD, just needed a charge but she insisted! The thing fires off in one kick anyway! hahaha

Hey guys! A customer just brought me a 2007 Aprilla, that has been left outside and covered for about 2 years. Surprisingly, its in terrific shape! She told me the battery was bad, and it would not start with the kick btw.
So I tore it all the way down to the Valve Cover, adjusted the valves, took the carb off, cleaned thoroughly(Soaked Pilot Jet and UP'ed the Main Jet from .75 to .79)wire brushed it all. Checked the fuel lines, and discovered the problem. Someone previously had the pet cock IN and OUT Backwards. I went ahead and checked for good ground, cleaned and zip tied everything out of the way, and re-assembled.
Now I'll let the battery sit on the charger all night, and tune the carb tomorrow morning. ALL and ALL a great looking little scooter! I love the the bigger wheels!16-17" Maybe??
PS : I am waiting on the STOCK Ignition Coil for the 1982 Motobecane! Should be by wednesday... I'll take pictures, Have Fun Guys!

I promise the hardest part is getting all the plastics off. And I agree with Alley. These things come out of the factory with almost CLOSED Valves, WHY IDK. After you adjust the valves, she'll run great.
