A good PDI and spending $100 bucks to flesh out the cheaper parts, and you have a scooter you can be proud of, with the peace of mind that comes from doing it yourself and knowing it's done right.

Check your plug boot. I had a similar problem last year, turned out vibrations shook it off and back on, making it an intermittent problem. Once I replaced the plug boot (had the orange performance one, put the stock one back on), I haven't had any issues since.

I am forever always forgetting to put put that darn kick stand up when trying to start it lol. Is there a way to by pass that? I also really hate sitting on it while it warms up before i head out. Any help please Thanks I wish my new scooter had one of those kickstand kill switches, I'm forever forgetting to put the kickstand up, and scraping along as I take off!

I have one like this. Nothing fancy, not lit, a bit slow to register changes in rpm's, but does it's job, is very affordable, and a snap to install. I wouldn't put one on my BMW R1200C.......but on my little plastic Chinese scooter it is just fine. Installed it 7/3/2012....still works fine.....when it quits, I'll spend $12 for another one just like it. [img src=" i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj622/rks3526/_57.jpg" src=" " alt=" "] I'm glad yours is working good for you. I bought one of those and it worked great, for about 45 minutes, then the screen showed illegible characters for a few days, then it went blank. Hopefully mine is an abnormal experience, I buy a lot of cheap chinese electronics and usually am pretty happy, but I would spend the extra dough for a tiny tac now.

Could you tell us the model of your trike? At least the engine size. Hard to help find parts if we don't know what we are looking for.

I live in Vegas, so I don't worry much about the weather. Looks like at least one rider up north feels the same:

If you are blowing bulbs, you most likely need to replace your R/R. I was blowing headlight high beam filament every few days till I replace the R/R, haven't had any issues since.

It's never over kill to double check things, especially when your life could depend upon it. I personally do a complete tear down and check 2-3 times a year, and I usually find something that needs adjustment or shows I may need to repair/replace it soon. I don't like surprises while I'm riding, so maintenance is one of my main priorities!

That is the way I always understood it, a 150cc is a motorcycle by most state laws, and so long as it can keep up with traffic and not create a dangerous situation, is allowed on freeways. That doesn't mean it's advisable to do so, but we all have our own comfort zones, I will never take a bike over 100mph again, the one time I did I had skid-marks of the not so desirable variety!
Interesting part at the end of that page: "Motorized Scooter
A motorized scooter is defined as any two-wheeled "device" with
A motor, handlebars, and a floorboard for standing on when riding, and The options of having: A driver seat which cannot interfere with the operator's ability to stand and ride. The ability to be powered by human propulsion. NOTE: A motorized scooter may be driven with any class driver license. A motorized scooter may not be used to take a Class M1 or M2 skills test. The motorized scooter's exhaust system must not be modified or altered."
What makes a scooter meet the definition of "The ability to be powered by human propulsion"? They are not referring to motorized bicycles, those are addressed in the preceding portions. I believe they are referring to GoPed type scooters, but the definition has a lot of wiggle room. Everyone seems to think a 50cc scooter requires a motorcycle endorsement in Cali, but that sections seems to indicate otherwise since you can stand on the floor and ride by pushing off with one foot, though it wouldn't be easy!

I have not seen any stock cdi's with rev limiters , more so air/fuel mix carb problems and or cvt defects . A binding cvt will hold your rpm down , a carb that is not jetted correct or at least close will give performance problems . John I thought some of the older (pre-2008) scooters had a restricted CDI that could be de-restricted by cutting the pink wire?

I also have one of tvnacman's advancing angle CDIs on my 50cc with a 50mm bbk, and I have been very happy with it, solved some kickback issues I had and gives great performance. Plan on putting one on my new 150cc as well once it get a few more break-in miles on her.
