You obviously didn't read my last post, the new r/r/ I got had the poles switched and was causing all the problems. I posted this in case anyone buys a new r/r and starts having major issues, simply switch the top two wires on the r/r. Of course this only applies to 4 pole r/r's.
Cheers.

Update:
Sorry it's been a while, got caught up with classes. I have finally dug my way out of the pile of books. Anyhow, I replaced the battery and all the bulbs, still had the same issue. Battery wasn't charging, blown bulbs, you name it.
I came across another thread that had mentioned that sometimes the r/r you order has the two top poles switched. Well, I got a wiring diagram of what the r/r/ was supposed to be, then checked voltages at the wires running into it. Low and behold the top two poles had indeed been switched,so...with a bit of clever rewiring, I switched the top two wires going into the connector to the r/r and now she works like a charm. Battery is staying charged and getting a return charge, lights are working, and it almost seems like the scooter is even running better.
So, long story short...check those new r/r's. Sometimes the poles are swapped and can cause a multitude of headaches. Thanks for all the input guys.

I just wanted to put a pic of the missing piece (okay not the missing piece,if I had that to take a pic of I wouldn't need to post in this thread now would I?) so do you guys use something like Photobucket or is there a way to upload like you can with your avatar?

Yeah I priced the replacement piece before I went to the local "scooter graveyard",they wanted almost 200.00 for the front fairing,so I was quite lucky to actually have found the exact same piece (minus the smaller plastic part). My scoot is a United Motors Xpeed 50 (Minarelli JOG engine). I'll post pics maybe tomorrow after class. Thanks for the responses guys!

Hi guys...
Recently my lil scoot got stolen...amazingly enough due to a locking gas cap preventing the thief from refueling it, my baby was recovered but they smashed the crap out of the front faring to get to the ignition switch (instead of using the tool kit they stole from underneath the seat)
Long story short, I was able to find locally an exact replacement for the front fairing, except from a small triangular plastic piece in the middle. At this point it's a bit of an eyesore but nothing that a little piece of plastic could fix.....but, I'd like to personalize my scoot a little bit and though if I could find some sort of plastic piece I could put in there to make it look spiffy.
Sooo, anyone know somewhere that sells custom plastic pieces? I've googled a bunch of different things...custom fairings, fairing accents, etc. but haven't really come across anything. So if anyone out there in scooterland knows a site or a dealer I'd greatly appreciate a link to it.
Thanks!

Yeah I kinda figured as much,but...would that cause the front headlight to blow and the tail light to blow a filament??

Hmmm now even more oddities....put the recharged battery in,now my brake lights and turn signals work!! So now this question becomes...if a battery is going bad would it simply short out and send all the voltage to the headlight thus blowing it? Am I even asking this question right??
I still plan on testing the voltage this weekend on everything but for now, very happy that people will know when I'm stopping and/or turning.

I may have been wrong about the battery, maybe a little impatient. I left it on the charger overnight and this morning when I put the meter on it....11.9v, though it does seem to be bleeding a little bit as I checked it again about 5 minutes ago and it was at 11.7v...but I think this battery is slowly on it's way out. I'm gonna have to wait until the weekend to check everything on the stator as apparently my professors think Halloween week is the perfect time to bog us down with exams (I've got three this week). So I'll have to wait until friday after my test to really get in there and start digging around. I'll let yall know what I find....but I do have another question....what would cause a stator to overcharge???

I think I may have a cooked battery. I've had it on my Tender for about 5 hours now and it will not reach a full charge. Took the Tender off, read the voltage at 8.5v but it's not constant i.e. the voltage decays very quickly....within seconds the voltage drops from 8.5 to 6v and keeps going down. I would think the fuse there would prevent that but is it possible a loose ground at the stator would ruin a battery?

Did you check the bulbs to see if they were actually burned out? Yup,the headlight bulb is completely fried (both the low beam element and the high beam "spoon" thing) even some pieces floating around inside the bulb, the tail light has the "running light" filament burned up but the other filament, the one that lights up when you hit the brakes is completely intact...but those lights don't come on when I press the brake levers so theres been no current applied to it. I think that is tied into whatever issue I seem to be having. I've got the battery on the charger right now,I was getting very low voltage on it so once I get it charged up I plan on testing the voltage across the battery again.
