The carburetor jets are now cleaned out. Still not starting. I've ordered a new fuel filter. I know I should have done that earlier but I could see fuel moving in there. I'm not sure I have any idea how to clean the gas tank out. Will read up on it now. Thanks for the input I will get this thing running just as it is time to out it away for the winter. Just you watch

I was hoping I wouldn't have to. I've put some seafoam in there. Any chance that will sort it? Would it run fine once warmed up though? Thanks for the advice. I'm off to watch a video about removing the carb

Hi All!
My neighbors 150cc Il Bello wouldn't start so I am working on it. Here is the problem..
Scooter doesn't start - keep trying, battery dies eventually. I jumped it from my scooter - still wouldn't start but with continued trying, it eventually starts. When it starts, it cuts right out unless I hold the throttle open for a few minutes. Then it runs like normal. Can cut it off and restart it no problem. Until its been off for a while and cooled down. If I take the choke out and plug it with my finger, it starts right up. I got a new autochoke since it doesn't seem to initially let the right amount of gas in and still doesn't work. I tried the (working) choke from my scooter, still no joy. I disconnected the choke, plugged the hole and started it up. The wire was reading about 3 volts at idle so power is getting to it..
I am at a loss.
Any ideas what to check next? Thanks so much for any input!!

Thanks everyone for all of the amazing advice and diagrams! This forum is amazing! The guy I bought it from gave it to me in really bad condition. He said the start had never worked and was disconnected. Well.. I had changed the battery a couple of days ago and whilst out there trying to figure out if it is a bad brake switch, the thing started right up. Seriously.. I'm shaking my head at not trying it since the new battery but seriously thought it wasn't attached to anything. With regard to the brakes.. I'm working on it! I can't get the bike past 23 at this point though so it isn't too dangerous. I'm having fun and learning so much! This forum has helped a ton and my scooter is almost rideable!!

No, it doesn't do anything.. I will take a look at it. The guy who had it before me had it disconnected because it leaks brake fluid. Thanks.

Tail light and brake light work properly when using the back brake. I'm waiting for a new front brake to arrive. It isn't currently connected. You think it could be that simple?

Hello everyone. I recently boughten very cheap and very scruffy chinese 50cc scooter. I have replaced many parts and have it running fairly well. The electric start hasn't worked at all and I think it has been disconnected. I've been kicking it but the kick isn't really working well now. The scooter still runs if I jump the starter solenoid with a screw driver but I'd like to not have to do that in the middle of the street. Could anyone advise me on where to run the wires from the starter button to please? Or maybe point me to a diagram that is easy to understand. Thanks very much for any input! Caz
