Is this a new scoot? If not check for air box cracks or cracks in the intake tube. The elbow where the carb attaches sometimes cracks as well.It might be getting too much air and these are finicky. There should be a cap of some sort on the end of the air intake as well. Also, since you have had the carb apart make sure you didnt pinch the rubber diaphram under the lid. Did you inspect it for holes?

WOW now to find one....wonder if i get a good steel nut from the hardware store and use that to chase the thread? That variator nut doesnt look very beefy.

My variator nut is going on and off a bit more difficult as of late. I ordered a new nut but want to clean up the threads. Is it called a chaser that i need? If so what size?

If i understand the choke it allows more fuel after sitting for a few minutes or more but what causes the high RPMS during that period? Thers no extra air coming in like we had back in the day on carburetor cars where the butterflies and choke worked together.
