My 125cc scooter is very easy to steal because it is so light. If I spend time in Los Angeles, and leave it alone for hours, what should I do? Can I lock to a fence pole? Can I find a place that has valet parking and let them watch it? Should I ask a car repair shop to watch it for me for a fee? Or a storage facility? Any ideas?

Thank You, I was thinking that I was less than 100% sure. When I get to the scooter I will confirm this. Any luck with a diagram? John No but I did find a parts catalogue if you need to buy some! df-motor.com/MLC/Parts%20Menu-DF150TKA(2014).pdf

Hi JR, I said Boreal in my post and not Bolero. Looking at the manual, mine is indeed an FY50QT-5. everything is identical. Thanks to you after six years of ownership I have a manual. As far as the light switch goes. Till the switch broke . the headlights would not come on when I started the scooter. I had to flip the switch. However when the switch broke and I glued the ball to left most position it started to come on automatically . In Quebec cars must have their headlights on all the time. News to me also, according to the manual I don't have a kill switch. The only kill switch on the scooter is on the kick stand. By the way , yesterday before I started the scoot I removed the headlight bulb so that it would not drain battery power. I can't tell whether it is because of that , new battery and new plug or some other reason the crank force seemed much stronger. Should I still leave the ball where it is ? Should I order the switch previously mentioned ? www.ebay.com/itm/Scooter-Left-Right-Handle-Switch-Control-Assembly-GY6-50cc-125cc-150cc-Moped-/191659209547?hash=item2c9fc7734b&vxp=mtrThanks again Yes I would order this switch assembly kit because you do not have a handlebar kill switch so the plug is 4-pin not 6-pin like the one with the kill switch, it should be plug and play. As far as knowing for sure if the lights run off the battery it's easy to test. Leave the ball in until you get your new switch, install the switch then turn the key on, if you put it in the head light on position and the headlights come on then yes they run off of the battery, if they only will work with it running then you know they run off the R/R? Again some of the older scooters had a on/off headlight switch even if the headlights ran off of the R/R, they are not built like that any more. JR

JR This is known as an AMG Boreal, I read somewhere that it had Sachs engine ?? Where on scoot can I find the FY50QT-5 ?? You are right again. When the switch broke , I glued the ball. Lights would burn , when the scooter was running. I may seem knowledgeable but I am not; can you try to explain what I did ? I will remove the ball as suggested . Will that eliminate the headlights completely ?? ronb Ok a little confused here? You said the lights would come on when you turned the key on? If this is the case then it means the lights run off the battery which is not very common for scooters especially 50cc ones. But if the lights only burn when the scooter is running then it indicates they run off of R/R which is extremely common. Older model scooters had a head/tail light on/off switch along with a hi/lo beam switch. later on they went to a hi/lo switch only and the lights burn all the time for safety. Some states require on all the time while a few still give you the choice. This switch with the ball you glued in is a two position switch where you can choose to have just the tail lights on or tail and head lights both on. If this is the case leave the ball in until you get a new switch. Now that you said it's the Bolero it is even more confusing? The model I mentioned has a head light on/off switch which is exactly what you show in your picture with the ball glued in with NO engine kill switch? The Bolero does not have a on/off headlight switch but does have a engine kill switch located on the right side by the start button? Here is the scooter I asked you about and it looks just like the one you pictured? www.jr-richscooterdoc.com/Peirspeed_sachs_FY50QT-5_owner_manual.pdfHere is the Bolero: www.jr-richscooterdoc.com/Peirspeed_Bolero_Owner_Manual.pdfAs you can see the Bolero is a Vespa style scooter it is not the scooter you listed in the picture. Yes they have Sach engines. JR

Have you actually tested to see if it's getting voltage and is not running because of that?

ronb The reason your batter is running down is because you have the switch crossed over to the 12vdc line in that switch. The lights do NOT come on with the key but rather burn only when the scooter is started. You are crossing 12Vdc from the battery to the voltage from the R/R that run the headlights. If you continue to do this you'll burn the R/R up if you haven't already. Remove the ball. JR

The scooter is a 2009 AMG., Canadian company that assembled the scoots in Montreal from Chinese parts, they closed their doors. Why did I change the CDI ? Simply lack of knowledge. A month ago when I started researching into the problem , I read somewhere that the CDI was a part that frequently goes bad., did not know how to test it, found one on ebay for $10.00 and ordered it. Headlights coming on when I turn the key. The slider switch on the right handle bar is broken., came off. I have the metallic ball the closes the contacts glued to the left most position. I ordered one though Is this your scooter? The Canadian version of the MadAss 50?
