You are right on the money Alley! I believe I goofed when I applied the chain tensioner and didn't recheck it. I'm guessing it rolled the cam back one tooth and I didn't notice. I like your idea about marking the chain. #3!

I hear PVC pipe glue works well . John Thanks John. I hadn't thought of that. I was actually considering using some Bondo to fill in the hole. Then I was wondering what garage floor epoxy would do for strengthening it. You can by Behr brand clear coat and I wondered what coating the front and back would do and look like. That stuff is acrylic and damn durable. Any thoughts?

Hey Matt, is this something you were surprised to see when you got home from your ride, or did you realize some gravel got kicked up when it happened? It makes me wonder if it might be a good idea to proactively reinforce that front panel with some fiberglass weave on the back. Yes, it was. Sad and disapointed. I'm not exactly sure how it happened. I do know that I reinstalled it incorrectly a day or two earlier. I'm wondering if the stress put on it magnified by vibration caused it. Long story short, you must line up the plastic perfectly before tightening it down. You can't really see this, but there are several fractures. I super glued each one and they seem to be doing well SO FAR. I like your idea of fiberglass mesh. Wonder if that would be heavy?

#2 make sure your cam is actually at TDC. I was off by two teeth. Big difference in power!

My daughter asked me to take her to the $1 store tonight to get a small sewing kit she needed. Great excuse for a ride so we hopped on my scoot and off we went. The other night it was dark and I was having trouble plugging my USB in without a light and thought to myself, "What glove box doesn't have a light in it? I found a cheap solution at the dollar store tonight. This closet light is activated by a magnet inside the smaller white piece. I installed it on the underside of the doors lip. It isn't a perfect fit, but if it comes off I'll put two small screws in place of the sticker holding it on. Then I eyeballed the spot and lined the light part up with the corresponding arrow on the magnet peice before I peeled the sticker off and attached it to scooter. Here is the result. When I shut the door, the light goes out.

See my sig and avatar. I glued the cracks back together with superglue. Seems to be holding and not spreading for now. When I get a chance I'm going to do it right.

Oh crap. I just thought of another question I meant to ask you guys. I'd like to add a 12V cigarette lighter socket for powering accessories in a pinch, but mostly for easy hookup of my trickle charger. My plan is to wire the outlet in parallel with the main power leads for the rest of the electrical system. Simply stated, I would hook up the battery as normal, but also wire the leads of the outlet directly to the battery terminals. It makes electrical sense to me. What say you? If you're cool with doing that, should I fuse it? My natural inclination is to wire the outlet directly to the battery, fused with a 15A fuse. This is what I did with mine. Cigarette lighter and USB port.

You need to check acv output from the stator eith the stator unplugged at idle and at about 5000rpm . John How do I check this?

What happens when you run a little too much oil in the case?

I appreciate all the love boys! You all amaze me with you scooter electrical knowledge. However, amidst all the talk, I have lost track of what I need to do to fix this charging problem. Did we determine that my stator is fine? IF not, how do I do that. IF it is fine, what next? How do I test the R/R? I'm getting long on charging this battery 3-4 times a day.

What happened to the R/R with the black wire? I kinda liked that idea. Hook the yellow from stator to yellow on R/R, hook the white from stator to pink on R/R, hook the green round from stator to green on R/R, red from R/R goes to battery. If you're concerned about the red/white set your meter to AC and put it in series on the wire. i.e. probe in end of red/white and ground the other, polarity doesn't matter on AC. Start the engine, you will probably get about 12v AC on the red/white. I will be very surprised if that plays out differently. Rich, John asked me to get a picture of the stator wire. That is what you were seeing with the black wire. This is the R/R wires. Make sense now?
