Finally some good news. Yesterday I put the original carburetor in and took the scooter for a ride and it seems like it is running very well so far. No stalling. I took it again today for a long ride and it perform as expected. It seems that the source of the problem was the carburetor that the mechanic put in was bad in some way.
Thanks for all the advise and help you provided me.
Regards,
David.

Well as bad as it looks if I position the exhaust more to the left the engine won't start.
If I do that while the engine is running it lowers the rpm and feels like it is choking the engine.
Is their a possibility that something else is causing my original problem?
The engine sounds fine no banging or anything, run good as long as it runs.
I am wondering if it is possible that the carb was too much lean? is there such a thing?
regards,
David

Hi Alleyoop,
I am going to take the plastics off again. try to do the fuel/air mixture adjustments following the instructions you posted a while back.
I took another ride yesterday with the scoot and it runs fine but it wasn't a long ride.
I am wondering if there is any chance that my issue is a combination of bad valve and air/fuel adjustment?
Do I need to re-adjust the valves after adjusting the air/fuel?
Regards,
David

I have that tool I bought it from one of your recommendations but I don't see how to access that screw since it is between the engine head and the carb.
I will try to give it a try.

David

I had to remove the carb to do the adjustments. I can't do the tuning following the instructions you posted in the past since I don't have access to that screw when the carb is installed.
I notice one change since the adjustment when releasing the throttle the rpm goes down slowly and not as fast as before. I run the scooter a few time back and fort on my road about 1/2 mile each direction after the engine was hot. It didn't die yet. I am hoping for best.
I tried to re-produce the issue but couldn't.
Will keep you posted.
I for sure learned a lot trying to fix this issue.

David

No it is just making a pop sound. no metallic for sure.
It might be because of wrong gas air mixture from what I read but I can't find the location of that adjusting screw on my carb.
You can see the carb in the video I posted on this thread.

David

I did the adjustments again. I made sure that I don't hear the tapping and tighten the bolts.
Engine was hot around half the gauge which on a regular ride it never gets there but when standing with no air flow I am expecting it to be bit hotter.
Then I did the adjustments.
Questions:
1. is it the right process or I am suppose to just warm it up? 2. is there anything else that can cause this?
After the adjustment I could rave the engine to more than 6000 rpm's and it didn't not die but I need to take it for a ride to really test it. I just had enough of pushing it back to my garage every-time it dies on me. I am afraid to take it to a long ride since then I need to call a tow truck to bring it back home.
I was looking for the fuel/air screw on the carb but couldn't find it. I think that this carb have it in a very inconvenient location which I can't reach.
One note about the engine when I raise the rpm's and then release the throttle it makes noise like water babbling in a sink when it's needs air like boope boope ....
Any idea? is it normal?

David

It did. I am waiting for it to cool so I can try and restart it. Then I will let get hot and try the adjustments again.

David.

I need to try that. I just run the scooter until it got really hot and then took it for a ride. after 1/2 mile it died.
I will try your suggestion and do the test again.

David

NO. when I put the adjusters to the "bad" position I was able to start it. I waited until the engine got hot and then tried to adjust the valves. The position in the video shows that it is not very different than what the prev was. I think it is a bit more to the right for the exhaust one. Take a look at the picture: Regards, David

Hi, I was able to start it and when the engine got hot I adjusted the values. the attached video show their position and how the engine sounds. The only way I was able to start was with the adjustments you see in the video. On the video it sounds like it is knocking but it sounds worse if I move the adjuster to any other position. does it sound ok??? View My VideoRegards, David

There is a spark from the plug so I guess it's not electrical.
Any suggestions?

Hi guys,
Any chance moving the valve adjusters can prevent the scooter from starting?
I moved them to your recommended positions and I tried starting the scooter but it won't fire up.
I also tried putting them back to their prev position but still can't start it.
Battery is fully charged, engine make the same noise like something is turning which I guess is the started cranking the engine but it won't start. I checked all the hoses to see if I can feel the sucking on the vacuum line buy running the start and putting my finger on one of the hoses (small one) seems ok too me. I think that fuel is coming from the pump and can smell it. only thing I can think off is either the plug is not generating a spark but don't know how to check this (it a new plug that the shop put in 2 months ago) or something related to that or the re-positioning of the valve adjusters?
Any idea?
Regards,
David
