That's awesome! I'm a year round rider, so I can completely empathize with that story. I've never been in a deluge like that w/ my scoot, but I hope that it would do just as well. Well done!

Currently, I'm a night dispatcher for a manufacturing company here in town. I pretty much try to corral truckers all night... which, as the retired trucker who started this thread can tell you, it ain't easy! But, my drivers are great, work their tails to the bone for me and definitely keep my work life interesting. LOL

You're a good soul for taking an elderly dog. It's not easy, at all. But, you've been able to give her an incredible amount of love in her final years. That is one of the greatest gifts that humans can give back to animals, and it sounds like you've done that in spades.

Uh oh.....your supposed to change the oil that the bike was shipped with immediately before you ride it the first time and then again at 100 miles. The oil it's shipped with is called shipping oil and it's like peanut oil. If you don't have a bunch of smoke coming out of the exhaust then you may have dodges a bullet as far as your rings and valves. Time will tell on that issue.
Here's your fill and drain hole:
After you drain the oil stick the oil bottle in the fill hole and squirt it in until it starts dribbling out of the fill hole. Wait until it stops dribbling and put the plug back in. Your done, go ride I think that I did manage to dodge that bullet (thank Gawd). It's been running really well. I finally managed to get the drain screw undone after I got done being scared that I was going to break something. HAHA The gear oil came out and I put in the gear oil I got from the store. I ran it for a bit on the stand to make sure nothing was leaking, then went out for a ride. It's probably my imagination, but it seemed to run better after I changed the oil. hehehehe

So, I read on a few places (this forum included) that I should change the oil after the first 100 - 200 miles. I'm already over 200 miles, so I scooted over to Auto Zone, picked up some name brand, good quality 10W40 (NON-synthetic) oil and some 90 gear oil. I drained the oil that the scooter came with and boy... was it ever black! I was actually pretty shocked that it would be that dark after just over 200 miles. So, PHEW that I changed it.
Excited to make her sparkly clean inside and out, I went around to the other side to drain the gear oil, but was unable to get the plug screw loose. If I post pics of my gear case, can someone tell me whether or not I'm trying to unscrew the right screw? Also, how much gear oil do I put back in? None of the videos or tutorials said how much I should add back in.
Also, at the store, they had 10W40 regular oil and 10W40 4 stroke oil. What's the difference? I got the 4 stroke kind to be on the safe side, but it was a couple of bucks more. But, I'm wondering what the difference is.

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome. I'm pretty happy that I found this forum under the "friends" section of the another forum. I have some mods in mind, I'll post them when I get started on them.

Haha - well, that would be like trying to add sparkle to the hope diamond Oh SNAP dude....OW! Good one! Don't let Adam and the V fool you, they know how to hotwire a scooter. Hey, do you guys still have those two scooters from Lafayette Indiana? I have a buyer....name's Chainsaw, call him Mr. Chainsaw when you meet him, and don't make eye contact. Welcome to the monkey house Jonwaylover, #1 rule around here... Let me know if you need something. RichI don't think that we do. Though, that would be awesome if we did! Now, we just have some retailers, but none made here.

Welcome to the forum, so I think I am seeing TWO scoots right? Alleyoop Nah - same scoot. The darker pics are just filters that I was playing with on Photobucket.
