Yep. We gots plenty of spiders. Most of them are small cobwebbers, but we do have Cane spiders. They can get the size of my hand. This was from about 4 days of sitting in the same spot.

Andy, Pete knows from whence he speaks, I'd at least investigate it and get another opinion....you're ugly too...HAR! I'm here all week. But seriously, even if it was a couple of hundred dollars it would be cheaper than parts and your own labor. Pete has done some amazing work and is very familiar with this kind of thing along with woodworking. I actually think he's a family of gnomes posing as one normal human. Normal?! Ah ha ha ha HAAAAA!!!! I have pix, anybody want to see? Rich

Ok! So, for the FON (Freak Of Nature) and the rest of us, here is a cleaner engine to see what's really going on under there.
HEY! I could actually see the broken mount!
Is that bolt sticking out of the bottom the oil drain? I get that done at the local bike shop but if it's that easy to get to...
You can hear the tradewinds popping my phones microphone. A bit windy today.

Yes Andy, that's the oil drain. There's a screen too you have to clean. Read this, there's a quiz in the morning. Onward! That looks dangerous Andy, it would make me think about it constantly while riding. Hey Pedro, how about grind that flat and smooth and weld onto what's left of the ear AND the case! I think what's left of the ear is still weight bearing. If it was my bike I'd be completely comfortable with an additional attachment hooked onto what's left of the ear and case. If you couldn't thread it get a pad welded to the ear AND the case and then drill through it. Put a big arse shoulder bolt through there and an aircraft nut on behind the whole mess. OR, I've heard about some guys welding steel to aluminum. Have you heard anything like that Pete?

Just ribbing you there bud, no offense meant. I seem to be on one of those cycles of pissing people off. Hey, I'm listening to Joe Satriani. You know, the greatest guitar player that ever lived? See? I'm trying to piss YOU off! What's wrong with me?!

i've heard of billet aluminum and steels being welded but not seen it ,,,i still do think there's enough of the perch left on there where a inch to inch and a quarter rotary file can put an arc on the stub,,after the side plate is removed so a 1.25" "collar about 1"thick can be predrilled and threaded to the existing bolt thread and be safely (both the case and the operation of the bike will be kosher),,,need a good welder tho,,,oh good video by the way,,,once you got the munster house out of the way you can see exactly what it needs

Thanx Pete. Now I have to find a welder that is actually worth hiring. I shot the vid with my phone. LOL I guess it's good for something after all. My provider refuses to upgrade our towers and they're pretty much the only one in my area of the island. Dropped calls are a normal part of the day.
Tommy Emmanuel is THE MAN on Acoustic, Clapton pretty much has it hands down on electric.
