I tried the expensive variator took it right off and sold it for half the price as a matter of fact to a guy on this forum.
It is good for GO-KARTS but not for scoots, you loose a lot of top end speed, it is for low end power. Get a KOSO Variator for 1/4 of the price and you will do 100% better. Alleyoop

Thanks Alleyoop, glad I didn't buy it then. Can you link me to a site with the best deal?
Thanks
edit: found a good one for about $30 shipped.
edit2: What weights should I get? 7g, 8g, 9g, 10g, 11g, 12g, 13g, 14g, 15g, 16g, 17g, 18g? I have a MC-13-150 scoot. I weigh 150 if that matters.
edit3: Took my variator off and weighed my current weights. They were 13g. I ended up ordering a new variator with 12g weights. I'm fine with losing a bit of top end in exchange for better acceleration.

The lighter the Weights in the Vari, The quicker the centrifugal force can slide them, better accel, less top-end. The Heavier the weights, the LONGER it will take for you to get to top end, BUT you never REALLY gain any top end out of JUST changing weights, the Belt still has the same Ratio, you can just get they're faster. If you want more TOP END, I would change out your Secondary and Final drive gears.
