So I'm ridin' the trike the other day and I kept gettin' a wiggle in the front end if I let off the gas quick. So I checked for "wag" from the rear wheel when I got home and sure enough lots of it. Figured it was just gonne be some loose motor mount nuts again but nooooo. The flippin' motor mount broke apart! What a piece of crap! Has anyone else had something like this happen? Here's a pic of the quality POS--

Yeah, it's steel... if you want to call it that. The thing is two years old so even if it was still under warranty what are they gonna do, give me another POS motor mount? If you've seen my other posts you'll know that I already replaced all the bushings in this thing with urethane. Guess I'll have to reengineer this whole thing now. Sucks...

Sorry to hear it,,, but on the bright side it's not a complicated part and will be easy and inexpensive to duplicate in real steel,,,, I've seen parts fail like this before and I think they are using iron and not steel,,,
So I got the motor mount welded back together and reinforced by a friend from work(same guy that welded my steering shaft). I told him it didnt have to look pretty just make it solid. He got a length of square tubing and cut it in half, then welded it onto the motor mount. Thing is like a tank now. Only one problem. The urethane bushings took some heat and the upper ones started to melt a little and the lower long one turned to mush. Soooo, I'm waitin' for some more liquid urethane to arrive to redo the bottom one and I'll press out and replace the top one's too. Figures it's prime ridin' weather here in Pa... Here's some pics of the Franken-mount.

About 8 years ago, I decided a good winter project would be to re bush the suspension on my 66 Pontiac LeMans. I ordered all urethane bushings from Summit, or Jegs (can't remember which) and set about replacing every bushing on both the front and rear of the car.
What a mistake....my Pontiac went from a nice riding car, to one that you feel every little crack, or bump in the road. Those urethane bushings absorb little to no road shock, just send it all through the car. The old school, rubber bushings, might not last as long, or be as good in a racing environment, but they sure absorb more shock, and vibration.
Just my experience.

Those where taken after I repaired it in a accident that nearly cost me my left leg when I got a tank slapper at 55mph, slammed into a guard rail and down into a river bed.
At the start of that fateful trip.
