Hi all and cheers from Denmark. I am new to scooters and scooter repair thank god i found this forum. I have been doing months of reading here trying to get the nerve and balls to break out the tools and see whats what under all the plastic. I found not a whole lot is under the seat like i thought may have been lol. Im a car guy need it fixed ill fix it not sure why i was so scared to mess with a scooter. But anyways got a question or 2 for you all. Carb identifcation? I found a cx50 on mine in black letters in the front. Reason i ask is been reading about the rejetting etc etc. Got it used as a gift from the wife and it really runs like crap...no idle...dies out...want alittle more hp out of it. Thanks and sorry so long been have a few beers and well you know lol

I have a couple questions,,, how many miles on the scooter ? And has it been sitting a long time?,,, I would think remove the carb and disassemble and a good cleaning is all you need in most cases

Oh and drain the tank and get some fresh fuel in it,,, check the fuel filter

Yes my plan remove and clean but thought of buying a another as i get use to scooter carbs so i have know idea what to buy...are the all the same

Is this the scoot? If so it is a 2 stroke and the carbs are slider types meaning the throttle cable goes into the top of the carb and actually is connected to the slide. So when you twist the throttle it pulls the slide up and needle out of the main jet and lets more fuel to be sucked out.

If you can take a couple of pictures of the carb we can match it up need a left side and right side shot.

i noticed a hose on the left top of the carb not connected to anything just hanging there. also a few minor cracks in the intake i will replace that today along with the splark plug and fuel filter.Btw this is a pic of my scooter

You have a keihin clone carb. It should take the standard jets you can find at any scooter parts store or website.

Nice looking scooter and it looks like in good shape. Yes any cracks in the intake manifold and or AIR TUBING from the airbox tape them up. Check the VACUUM hoses for cracks or cuts if they leak it will just bog and not suck in fuel from the petcock. Also you see the fuel line I labeled make sure that hose from the tank to the carb is going DOWNHILL you have a gravity fed fuel system so NO UPS and downs on the fuel hose from the tank to the carb.

Thanks for the info...Put a new intake,fuel filter and spark plug on. Checked all the hoses and the fuel line like you said all is good and still cant get it to idle ugggggh. It starts and will run if i keep on the accelerator but when i let go it dies. Any other ideas please and thank you.

Raise the idle a little bit, when idling the REAR WHEEL should NOT BE SPINNING.

Where is a good place to start? As in if i back in out all the way then any guess as to how many turns clockwise to get it close. I really never had any idle before so it may have always been out of whack.

Turn it in clockwise a couple turns until it will hold idle then once it's able to run on it's own then you can set it where it needs to be
